Chelsea(A) - Post Match Thread

For me, that game against Barca is still unsurpassed when it comes to defending and pressing - they claimed after the game it felt we pushed them out to the stands. I said in pre-match thread there is nothing to worry about this Chelsea side considering two games from the last season. With Costa gone and Hazard at 40% capacity at best, they are just an upgrade version of Leicester City from two seasons ago. Or we made them look that way anyway!

Have just read a half page match report in The Times.
According to them its all down to Conte's masterful introduction of 'tactics' last season.

They say "... it was also possible to detect the fingerprints of Conte in Guardiola's clever repurposing of Walker".

I shit you not, 90% of the article is about Conte the supercoach.

Didn't say anything pre-game, because didn't want to jinx it, but would have loved it if he had scored and run by Hazard doing his funny run and flapping his arms! Would have been priceless!

"Raheem Sterling, he's top of the league!"
I was literally praying raza to score one a rub it off that little egoistic ****.

I would agree, I think too many fans have already forgotten what we did to Barca last season. It was just as impressive as this one, although for some reason I am finding this one more satisfying. These are the times when we have really looked like a Pep team, able to just dominate some of the biggest names in football and force them to play our way.

That is the best performance under Pep since he became our manager. Now we need to keep this type of performance going throughout the rest of the season. Most especially against the rags when me play them, both in the away game and at home. I am not bother about scoring over 100 goals this season, thou that would be nice. I would settle for winning every game 1-0, because that would make us champions.

We weren't that good in the first half of that game and they had a makeshift back four. Whilst they are a better side than Chelsea, I still think the Chelsea performance was better in so many ways: we were depleted, we dominated for 95 minutes, we were on their ground and it was a bigger statement to the rest of football. And the passing was even better.

He walked off applauding both sets of fans, fuck off with the pessimism

I'll take your apology now.

Exactly as I said. Something was up. Hopefully just enough to keep him out of intl duty(as I said).

That's not pessimism, it's called reality.

Now fuck off with your stupid dismissing him being injured walking off the field.

Guardiola's Masterclass - Tactical Analysis of Chelsea - Manchester City youtube video,

just been watching this(just seen another tactical video up,sorry)
shows how city combated system ,how Chelsea had to change their system about 4 times to try and cope with peps tactics ,also gives the tactical expert loudmouths ive seen and heard in the media ask why was willian brought on instead of batshity

pretty good breakdown of our inverted fullbacks which allowed silva and kdb a 2 0n 1 with fabregas.

The match thread on The shed End, is quite funny if anyone has time to read it

Thanks for the heads up on this. Spent an enjoyable couple of hours yesterday reliving the game through their eyes.

Before the game there was a mix of caution (genuine fear of us) and over confidence (we can smash anyone).
During and after the game there was a realization, by most of them, that they'd been beaten by the better team.

Just as daft as us really.

We played good football and I was laughing when Conte was blaming everything on a packed schedule. :D That poor Italian!

Does anyone know if BT are running the whole game again on sky? Had a quick look through the planner but can't see anything

after the game was over the moon about the way we played and without some key players and we took chelsea apart on there own patch and the result was never in doubt maybe last seasons 2 games vs chelsea was still fresh in our mind but we played on another level to them and the whole team played its part yes KDB will standout with the goal but for me in many a year watching man city i have never seen the whole team play like this

its got options that others can only dream off we play with a open mind the freedom of fullbacks to wingers from 3 up top to a false number 9 the movement of the back 3 or 4 or bring in the fullbacks and flood the middle of the park its outrageous the amount of stuff that's is going on in the game

i really think we have a team here in the bracket of arsenal invincibles and the united treble winners even the liverpool of the 70s and 80s its young and fresh to dominate football for many a year and play like that all season then we will have to build another level to to get all the glory hunters in
