'All Or Nothing' - NO SPOILERS! - no content discussion

Well I'd assume that the SKY contract had been gone into with a fine toothed comb and as long as what that covers there are no legal issues. Interesting that SKY are bitching yet BT who chucked a lot of cash in the pot aren't saying anything. Thats the issue with a monopoly - not that SLY had one of course - all may not be as it seems.

Sorry mate, it's how the fuck they operate still annoys me, shouldn't, but does. A non UK angle will be a good watch.

Totally fine mate, I just wasn't sure if you were saying I was shoe-horning in a post about the "media agenda" on to this topic.

I completely agree with you, the way the media operates in this country is just a joke.

I don't think there's an "out to get us" agenda as such, I just think the media is so obsessively profit driven that they frame pretty much everything they say about us towards what will play well with United / Liverpool fans, as they make up the vast majority of their audience. It makes commercial sense for them, but as a City fan, it's incredibly frustrating.

Hopefully this Amazon doc will give a bit more of a positive light to the club. I've heard they've done great things witg their NFL docs.

Cue Pep: "In this envelope are the names of three players who will let me down this season"

Straight from Brenda's coaching manual

Hopefully not a series of hour long adverts for The Tunnel Club

If it pisses off the big dogs here lets do it even more.

Fuck 'em.

In fact lets go futher it would actually be a good platform to express opinions we as a club can't really explicitly say.

The concern I have is that Sky bigwigs will sit down together and converse on this subject, in their bitterness and commercial frustration it will be discussed how this is not what they envisaged outside of our deal to show games they will be fuming having missed an opportunity, they will go on how it would be disastrous if the programme actually covered the Premier league winners during the documentaries. All that exclusive viewing they would normally have monopoly over would bviously not be shown but much more in depth and informative for viewers.

They will not be happy, let's hope it doesn't affect any results!!!!

Haha- I actually started watching that because I thought it would be an interesting insight. It was bollocks

This is really good. Interesting to read about the Juve one as well,

If, as anticipated, these docos are in the same vein and to a similar standard as All or Nothing and Hard Knocks, they will be must watch for sports fans.

I wonder who will do the narration? Jon Hamm and Lieb Schreiber are two hard acts to follow, helps that they both love american football..hopefully we get someone decent, Daniel Craig perhaps?

Daniel Craig is a Liverpool fan and a shit James Bond. I’d go for Timothy Dalton or David Threlfall.

The other clubs will be all for this, and falling over each other to get their own deals if it’s a success. City leading, others follow as ususal.

It doesn't have to be a City fan, just someone with a passion for the sport and a good narrative voice. Although now you mention it, did DC narrate the shitty Scouse doco?

Have u seen the advert for the Haribo sweets. Well that's the fuckers.

Sky apparently spitting their dummies out about this due to the PL rights package they believe they have.

Thing is what are they going to do? Not report on City even if we are top of the league? Replay every controversial offside and red card in our favour and ignore the ones that go against us? Focus on Liverpool and the scum as that is where their subscriber base is in the majority? Yeah, bridges burnt already Sky.

Amazon are by no means perfect but if they a heralding in a new age of sports viewing where I get to pick and choose which games i want, rather than having to have a package whereby I won;t know the games before I sign the contract, may get a handful of my teams games but also a load of tosh that I would never want to watch (nor have the chance), and have recognized the value in MCFC as a brand and supporter base due to the neglect of other broadcasters en mass, then viva la revolution!

It's quite simple. Sky (& BT) have the rights to match footage. As long as the documentary sticks to behind the scenes coverage (as does Tunnel Cam & Inside City) then Sky have no say in the matter as far as I'm aware. Amazon could also pay Sky to include match footage as well so I wouldn't take the Mail article too seriously.

I don't really understand why Sky would have a problem with it?

They have the rights to the match footage, so Amazon would have to pay them to use it?

City already produce their own in-house content. I think the NY Yankee owned YES network help with that.

United have their own TV channel with their own content. As do Liverpool and Chelsea. All, I assume, show behind the scenes footage.

Channel 5 did the documentary on Liverpool. NBC did a one hour program on City a couple of years back.

So why would Sky be arsed if Amazon did a documentary on City? What's the difference?

The only thing I can think is that this is a brief from the PL. They've done their usual bargaining tactic when the new rights come up for negotiation - linked a new company with being interested in bidding for the rights.

In the past they've linked Apple, Disney, Facebook and others with bidding for PL rights, in order to make sure Sky don't get complacent with their bid. This year they've linked Amazon with bidding for the rights.

On the 'owning' match footage thing, is it as simple as that? City are able to show match footage and highlights on the official site. Do they pay Sky and BT for that? Are web broadcast rules different?
