Everton 2017/18

Everton were the first away team I saw at Maine Road.
It was the opening home fixture in the 90/91 season and we won 1-0 with that rarest of things; an Adrian fucking Heath goal.

Everton were also the first away team I saw at Maine Road, but it was a few years earlier as I'm an old git.
67-68 - final home game of the title winning season and we won 2-0 (Book and Coleman).

Apparently they're going to give Allardici £120k a week and even let him hire Sammy Lee as his assistant! Talk about fucking desperate, but then again if we had David Unsworth in charge for a month we'd probably be getting desperate as well

So we'll have Moyes, Pardew & Allardyce all back in the Prem with Roy Hodgeson & next season we might have Neil Warnock. And who is to say whether someone will appoint Pulis for the relegation battle ?

How inspiring.

Palace have had pretty much all of them in the past couple of years, with Megson now in charge. No jobs for British managers in the premier league though of course, probably cause the same dinosaurs keep getting all the jobs

Fat Sam at Everton.
Pardew at WBA.
Hodgson at Palace.
How do these no marks keep getting jobs ?

If they've appointed Allardyce it can only mean their primary objective for the rest of the season is to avoid relegation. This is necessary because they're in a relegation battle. They're in a relegation battle because they fired an experienced and proven manager because they caved in to pressure from fans and weren't satisfied with a poor start to the season that still had plenty of time to be turned around. Instead, they asked a totally out-of-depth and inexperienced manager to take over at a club with more problems than they could count on two hands. Essentially, they'd probably be far better off had they not sacked Koeman in the first place, or at least got a replacement in within a reasonable time period- say, a week. This has to be some of the worst football club management I've ever seen.

It could be us in the 80’s. Or 90’s. Or 00’s and there can be no more damning a comparison as that....

I might be out on a limb here but football wise I have nowt against BFS. As the advert goes it does what it says on the tin with him. If appointed he will keep them up, they will play direct football, most of the times it wont be pretty but the results will be there. If they stick with him they will be a mid table, possibly UEFA league placed team. If they use him as a platform as we used Mark Hughes in several years Everton could be up and around the top of the table.

well and the fact that they spent over £100m on a bunch of mid-table #10s, a club mascot, a GK who got relegated and a CB who played in one of the most drilled team defensive shapes in the league. They sold their only striker and their most promising winger and failed to replace them, and then gave all that to a manager who wanted to play expansive football, and who now had a young keeper, no RB, CBs who were either past it or rely entirely on team shape, the same defensive midfield, no creativity deep within midfield, 500 slow #10s, no width and no striker. And then wondered why they couldn't win or play any football.

That would make more sense if they weren't already an established top half of the table team, who just happen to be near the bottom thanks to handing David Unsworth the job for a bizarrely long time. Making Everton a midtable team wouldn't be an achievement or progress, it would be bang average at best, which is pretty much Fat Sam's MO.
