Has everyone given up now?

Just like that glorious night when we beat West Brom and the Rags lost to Wigan in 2012 I went to the ground and there was an air of acceptance that our chance had gone. I had a feeling something could still happen for us and 5 games later we were champions.

That was 8pts with 6 games to play so for us to be discussing whether its in the bag with an 11 point lead with 21 games to play seems far too previous.

We are in a glorious position but I believe in life and in sport that you should never give up when your behind until its been decided and also to never think you've got it in the bag until its been decided.

Both the dippers and the Rags have both done this in recent years with us being the beneficiaries of their arrogance and I for one do not want us to experience the pain they endured this time round.

Let's just make hay and enjoy it while the sun shines so to speak as we all should know by now the unbelievable can happen when blokes kick a white ball about.
 
Didn't United have a big lead (8 to 10 points?) around Christmas in the 1967-68 season? It was harder to claw back advantages with only 2 points for a win.

Then Mal said they were rubbish. This quote was plastered over every newspaper.

City won at Old Trafford and later edged the title on the final day of the season with the win at Newcastle. Although as United lost at home to Sunderland, City would still have won the title on goal average even with a defeat.

City do tend to win their titles on the final day of the season (1967-68, 2011-12, 2013-14) by margins of 3 points (1936-37), 2 points (1967-68, 2013-14)), and goal difference (2011-12).

I think the games against everyone else outside the top six are almost more important now. Keep winning those games week in week out and we don't need to worry so much about how we do against the stronger teams.
 
No coincidence that ever since I left the country we've been unbeatable.

My last home game was Everton 1-1. But unfortunately I have bad news for you all, I'll be coming to the two home games over December/January so expect a loss/draw soon!

They're all important, but the psychological damage I think it would do to united if we beat both spurs and Liverpool would be huge

I agree, I just think there's a slight tendency for people to get fixated on those games weeks in advance when we still have loads of points we can and should be picking up in the meantime. Clearly Spurs is a big game for us and an opportunity to make an ever bigger statement of intent so soon after winning away at United, but I wouldn't be thinking about the liverpool game just yet. There's quite a few games that are our bread and butter before then and if we keep cleaning up in those, our rivals will be going into games with us feeling pretty powerless regardless of what happens when they play us.

Fair play mate, I have no doubt pep won't be letting the players take the so called lesser games lightly; not his style
 
Of course anything can happen, but we're obviously in a very very strong position.

Question - at what point do we start priortising the cup competitions? Normally we'd field weaker teams against Leicester and Burnley, but given our strong position in the league do we go stronger, knowing we've got a very good chance of winning the lot?
