Salford suspicious Fire - 3 Children killed - now 5 arrests

I'm against the death penalty. However I wouldn't mind seeing these scum killed in their cells by fellow inmates.
It wouldn't surprise me if that actually happens to be honest. Or maybe the scum bags will just do the right thing and top themselves. I'm completely baffled at what would poses any body to do what they (allegedly) did

I always used to be against it.

But over recent years, I've been less sure. It would have to be reserved for special cases where there could be absolutely no doubt whatsoever about guilt. A higher standard of proof than the current "beyond reasonable doubt" or "being sure". The jury would need to be cast iron dead certain to a man. Like if there's a video of the perpetrator actually doing it, for example. And then it would have to be referred to a higher court and probably the Home Secretary as well.

But for those most terrible crimes and in these circumstances, I think I might be persuaded to support it. There's some people who really don't deserve to exist on our planet.
Among several reasons I'm against it is it strikes me a bit hypocritical to say as a society"we disagree with murder, so if u murder somebody, the state will murder you" I know it's more complicated than that and im pretty sure I'd feel differently if I was directly involved but it just doesn't sit right with me. I'm sure I could be persuaded to change my mind for these cunts tho

If a dog savages a kid we put them down and the dog doesn't know any better. The day we sentence them to 20 doggy years in a kennel on 3 squares a day I would accept this moral conundrum. Personally I would buy an island in the middle of nowhere preferably in the arctic and just dump them there.

I see your point but we live in a society, dogs don't and to be fair most dogs that do that sort of stuff do so because of shit owners. I don't want to sound like I'm sticking up for the scum that did this or their right to exist by the way because as far as I'm concerned they forfeited that right when they did what they did. I'm just not comfortable with state sanctioned execution because where does it end? With that being said I wouldn't lose a moment's sleep if these scum were put down, I know that is probably contradicting myself there but that's the position scum like this put us in. I'm conscious I may accidentally be turning this into a death penalty thread here which I don't want to do so apologies if I've steered this off topic

personally i'm not against the death penalty, but i dont want these scum executed killed by other prisoners or allowed to commit suicide,i do want them to get whole life tarrifs and i want them beaten and living in fear every day that they live in this case, death would be too good for them..

Strangely, I don't think (without knowing the details yet) that this case is one where I might be inclined to go for a death penalty. For me, it would have to be for cases where there can be absolutely no doubts whatsoever about the guilt, the intention, the state of mind, the lack of any mitigating circumstances. I am not sure it would qualify. How could we be certain their intention was to kill the people in the house, as opposed to simply wanting to burn their house down and give them a terrible scare? They probably did mean to kill the people inside, but "probably" doesn't cut it if I was to be persuaded about a death penalty.

I'd give them a full life (i.e. never to be released) sentence though.

chippy i dont know if you heard but the petrol was on poured through the leeterbox through windows smashed with scaffold tubes and poured down the chimney they obviously set out to kill somebody they are murderers pure and simple, three hours before they set fire to a wheelie bin and pushed it at the house was that not enough to scare them if thats what they wanted!1 it was definately pre meditated..

I don't think that I have heard of a more dreadful story than this in my life.
What society are we in that allows such terrible things to go on?
Elderly people beaten, young people -babies murdered, homeless people dying on the streets, so many awful stories.
I think although we don't have the death penalty to use, anyone who murders children should automatically get whole life tariffs.
I hope that the scum who did this get their comeuppance in prison.
That poor family.
