I think Clyne and Robertson are solid enough. Naby Keita would improve their midfield and I'd have Can holding instead of Henderson. All this hinges on persuading Can and Coutinho to stay of course. They can't afford to replace both of them and the other options.

Mate, if we were seriously in for him there's no way he'd choose Liverpool over us. We're the team any player would die to join at the moment in the premier league. If we don't sign him it's probably a matter of us not willing to pay that fee.
I'm sure there are plenty of players that want a guaranteed start in the major games and could become disruptive if they don't get what they think they are entitled to. Didn't he go on strike when the move to Liverpool collapsed?

I've watched Leicester's last two matches against us and the Rags in full and no doubt Pep and the backroom team will have as well. A defender has caught my eye - younger, English and will be cheaper than VVD. He has shown he can pass the ball, can head the ball and can dribble with the ball. Like John Stones, a very un-English defender. Not to mention commendable never-say-die attitude. He's not complete, but Pep can improve his game enormously. Not saying he's better than VVD at this moment in time but just putting it out there. You only have to look at the transformation in Otamendi and Stones to see what coaching and developing players can result in.

Yeah agree but if VVD goes for 70m this lad who Leicester payed 30m for from Burnley will go for similar just because he is an England international 24/25 years old plus a left sided centre back which are hard to find.

Maguire greater potential.....jesus wept..... glad he scored against scum, but he's nowhere near CL level and never will be.
They have agreed (according to someone I know high up at their club, and is on their forum, but deffo different source) to sell VVD in Jan..... but no one knows who to as yet...... most saints fans happy to cash in as has been so poor since injury that alot wouldn't pick him this season on merit.
