Virgil van Dijk

Maguire was signed for £12m, possibly rising to £17m. £40 million tops is a fair price. £20m profit in less than a year. Still £30m cheaper than VVD and with greater potential to develop under Pep.

I get the feeling the VVD situation is just so City can stop Liverpool or Chelsea strengthening rather than us improving. That's not a good way to operate IMO.

Bizarre statement given that we blatantly don’t operate that way at all.

I do like the look of Maguire but am not sure what level he could reach.
If we did sign him we could field an all English (actually all Yorkshire) defense which would be kinda neat.

Not the fact hes been one of the best defenders in the country the past couple of years and was brilliant for celtic?

Exactly. From a point of view of what Pep looks for in a centre half, it’s no surprise that we’re after Van Dyke. I’m genuinely mystified by Blues who don’t rate him. Along with Stones and Otters, VVD is probably the most comfortable defender with the ball at his feet in this country, and with Pep coaching him he’ll only get better still. Maguire isn’t in the same league

The World Cup could be big for Maguire.

Southgate likes him so will likely start, so a good tournament and he will be on his way to a top 4 side I reckon.

If City have made a bid for him, he'll be coming to us. Why would he join any other British club?

The way we are playing and the fact we need another CD he'd be stupid not to come here and I would question his ambition.

If he goes to another club in the EPL, we never was in for him fact.

Bit raggish that mate. Sure we are the best and playing the best, but we dont just click our fingers I'm afraid, there are other factors that players would consider

He might prefer a lesser side where he is guaranteed to start every game - eg Dippers Rags etc. World Cup year

Yeah I see you point, but I think we have now earned a bit more respect in the league now. I think if we come calling with Pep here you'd be a fool to not take that up. He'd make him a better player, who wouldn't want to play for us at the moment. Everybody is talking about City.

Again, good point. But like I said before everybody's eyes are on us now, he seems ambitious you'd surly want to be part of something special?

As some have said, once Stones is fit again would he get in front of him or Otamendi? If I was him I'd go for guaranteed first team football - and he'll get that at Liverpool and the Rags.
