Fair play to them. If they sign a top keeper, left back and defensive midfielder they'll be close contenders to winning the league.

They have already signed Keita who will join em next summer. And With Robertson coming to form, they will be our biggest threat next season.

Let's see how the few is portrayed in the media. £75m fuck me they've been taken to the cleaners big fucking time.

World record fee for a far from world class footballer, and they say scousers are thieves. Good on yer Southampton, you've fucked em over, like they tried to fuck you over in the summer.

Excellent player who doesn’t want to play second fiddle.

Likely gets a huge hike in wages and is playing in a very good side who probably play champs league next season as well.

He was going for this much in pre season and transfers were crazy then so no difference here. He wants to play at Liverpool, fair enough to the lad. To say he’s not good enough is nonsense if Pep was in for him.

We’ll have numerous, calculated targets of which there is no doubt. Just hoping the Johnny Evans bids don’t make a reoccurance...

As others have said, Coutinho to be sold to balance the books.

Who makes way for Keita next season?

End of 2019 season, Salah to be sold?

Like manyoo, Arsenal and Spurs, it's business first and trophies second

I'd love to see him here but fair game to Pool for actually pulling it off. I don't think we'd pay 75 by any means. Well off the next targets then, Milan Skriniar please.

Skriniar would be even more expensive as Inter don't want or need to sell. Can see Guardiola moving back for Bonucci as Ac Milan want rid of him.

He's much better than any other centre half at Liverpool. However, the defensive problems are not just based on the centre halves. The GKs are poor and they do not defend well as a team.

They must surely have had a guarantee from Barca that they’re going to stick in a £125m for Coutinho in January or next summer for them to pay this for Van Dijk ?

Seems like we were in for him but our bidding stopped at 60m.....now it makes sense why Liverpool had to pay so much! Seems like Southampton got the bidding war they wanted if Goal are correct with their info...

They did go for him again and it did happen again! Surprised by that, although I suppose it sums up the transfer operation these days; some good deals/ruthlessness, but a few big misses (Alves, Alexis, VVD x2). Onto the next...

Surely City wouldn’t go for Van Dijk again (and let it be known they were going for him) if he was going to choose Liverpool. Especially six months after he made the exact same choice.

Iñigo Martinez another big name under consideration but if City do want PL experience, somebody who can deputise in big games and who doesn’t mind not being first-choice... there’s a reason Jonny Evans was a target in the summer.

City were ready to offer around £60m (as reported last few days) but it seems £75m was a bridge too far. I wonder if a cheaper centre-back and Alexis for £30m ish is now affordable this month. Not sure how it would square off against the squad harmony line of thinking, though

not worth £75 million and liverpool must be mad paying that in mid-season and again the media will not blink a eye when liverpool spend that sort of money in which is not coming from the club but the money men who own liverpool what is the difference with manchester city owners we even get bigger crowds than liverpool and they still rubbish city

Jonny Evans, you watch.

Seventeen points behind us tonight, so it will be interesting to see how many points his signing claws back. We’ll strengthen in due course.

pep is look for somebody with versatile in moving right across the back line virgil-van-dijk is not the man pep wants

This is a miss for us, transfer fees are not going down and next summer teams would be spending even more for top talent. This would make Liv strong contenders for 2nd with Che pushing rags towards fight for 4th with Spuds/Ars.
