How many points to win the league?

One of the programs here in the US said that it is possible that City will have the league mathematically locked up by mid-March. Which would blow the current record away. I believe (less sure on this part) that the current record was in mid-April.

The earliest is with 5 matches to go, or 15 points, that's the buffer we have if we win tonight. So in that scenario if we stretch that lead any further in the New Year it will be the earliest. You can't really do it by date though as seasons finish earlier in WC and Euros years.
 
I remember in the summer someone on here was convinced it would take 97 points to win the league..I've got it bookmarked on my PC but I'm at work at the moment so can't link it. But just know, I will get to it, and I will expose you...;)

The magic number is still 98 mate and Chelsea can still get 97:)

why do people keep mentioning the rags in this equasion,they'll be very very lucky to get top 4 no way will they get closer than that to us..
 
Our nearest rivals have to win 5 games more than us in the last half of the season. Given that we have so far not lost one and they already have a bag full of losses and draws its pretty easy to see who will win the league. I am certain we will lose some as we adjust for cup game success but Pep will ensure we are at least a game ahead as we reach the last game of the season.

I think it is based on the likelihood that the other teams will drop points and the expectation of when they will drop those points, etc. It isn't based on teams having an amazing run of form.
 
If we win tonight 11 more wins will get us 91 points.

11 wins 7 defeats. Looks very doable.
 
We would need to lose 5 times and united would have to win 18 games in a row.

Neither is going to happen.
