Centre back options

Have people lost their minds? Eric fucking Dier? He's a barely competent midfielder and a dreadful defender. Huge downgrade on what we already have wherever you put him. The only thing he has going for him is his homegrown status but we're fully stocked in that department now so even that isn't an attraction. I'd be delighted to see United get him.

Doesn't even count as homegrown, he was at Sporting Lisbon until he was 20 or so.

Totally agree - he is hopeless - don’t want him under any circumstances.

Aymeric Laporte.
Jonathan Tah.
Matthijs de Ligt.
Kalidou Koulibaly.
Jose Gimenez.
Yerry Mina. (G.Jesus team mate at Palmeiras)

Why on earth is Dier being mentioned. Fuck me he is terrible.

Been carried by Toby and Vertonghen for years. Useless doesn’t do him justice.

Defenders I like: De Ligt and Ginter

Laporte would be so perfect for us it still drives me crazy that he backed out of the deal. There's a lot of different players we could look at though.

Yerry Mina is interesting because he's 23 but still in Brazil, not sure if Pep and the board would want to bring him over without a loan to Girona or somewhere else first. Skriniar and Koulibaly would both cost a decent amount and Koulibaly is 26 (not that 26 is old, but there are younger options).

Tah I think will be off to somewhere if he receives attention from the big clubs. Leverkusen have been shite this season. Ginter is versatile which Pep would like. I really rate de Ligt but if we signed him we'd defo loan him somewhere for at least a season (he's still only 18), which I'm not sure he'd be thrilled about.

So much talk about Lucas Hernandez and I for one would be very pleased with that. Still only 21 and he and Stones could be our CB partnership for a decade.

Mangala will be off, but I think he'll stay until the summer with Vinny's injury problems. Then comes the question of whether or not Vinny will be in the team next year (whether it be he or Pep's decision).

Alexis seems to be a formality, which means CB and pivot are the positions we should expect to make some new signings.

I like that Andreas Christensen at Chelsea , not that we would get him.

Pep likes him but there’s no chance. Push the boat out for Wiegl and use Fern at CB here and there until the summer. With everyone parking the bus I’m sure we could use Fernandinho at CB in home games.

Harry Maguire....tall , plays very well with the ball at his feet and carries it out of defense

Leicester won't sell though

Could I randomly throw in David Luiz ?
I know, I know, but he fits Pep's identikit defender plan, in that he's full of mistakes but good at passing the ball & he fits Chelsea's typical selling plan, ie to a rival, bizarrely.
I mentioned him a few pages back.. I would love to see him at city in peps system.. hes very much a pep cb as is but if he can work his magic with Delph this should be a no brainer

I think it'd be a good buy. He suits peps football imo.

I think parts of his style, yes, but he is too irrational. A hot-head. Sometimes has a hard time staying calm and ends up making rash decisions. (See last world cup). Not totally against it, but Pep would have to calm him down, discipline is not his forte.

I know it’s youtube but Martínez looks like he could play everywhere, cracking left foot - scores goals, free kicks, long balls etc.

He’d have to cut out the “double footed” tackling if he came to the Prem, our refs wouldn’t like those.
