TBH.....if someone suggested playing YaYa at CB, I'd be as WTF as most on here......however when players such as Evans and Maguire are mentioned id take YaYa in a heart beat..probably over Dier as well (ok in mf but not a cb). There are plenty better options around purely by default that every team has 2 :)

John Stones was awful the season before we bought him to be fair. I think Pep would be more likely to look at individual attributes and whether he could do what he wants rather than how well they're playing under their current manager. That's why I can't see us buying defenders from Burnley despite their defence being good, because that's more down to the system.

Having said that, I don't see how Dier has suddenly become worth £75m. Can't believe he's still only 23 though.

To be fair everybody is crap against us now.

He can move the ball well, can defend when required and knows how to play in a positional play system. Could cover CB and midfield though I think his long term is at CB.

Hope not, they'd probably stick him in midfield and tell him to kick people instead of creating the refined CB that he's capable of becoming.

Makes you think how many great English defenders we've lost over the years because some idiot says "ooooh look John, they're a passer! Stick them in the middle of the park!".

Like people who always want to move Kompany into midfield because he can pass.

I rate him but that is madness otamendi is playing excellent and stones was arguably the best CB in the league before his injury I wouldn't start dier over either 30 odd mil fair enough, but we arnt desperate for a CB we have the best defensive record in the league! We are after a good 3rd choice who is going to keep stones and otamendi on their toes there are plenty of opinions so I can't imagine the club will be throwing that kinda money around.
