Why won't this thread just die?!?

I would fell 10000% better if it was some random Spanish guy that id never heard of. We all know JFE is shit, we've seen it first hand. If were buying shit, at least make a shit we've not seen or smelled before.
 
I really don't see spending such an amount on JE as a good move. He's not a particularly great defender, he's not renowned for his passing ability, he isn't quick, he isn't powerful, he isn't that good in the air, he's no leadership qualities and he isn't a great reader of the game. I wouldn't question Pep's judgement, but even the best coaches and managers make mistakes.
 
We seem to keep going back to him so Pep must see something unless this is some backhanded deal by Marwood and his old pal John Williams. Surely Pep and Txiki wouldn't be hoodwinked in some kind of deal for Evans without his approval.
 
If Pep wants him and he thinks that it will allow City the appropriate cover needed with the upcoming match congestion, then I'm OK with it. Not that my opinion means anything, nor should it. Pep certainly knows a lot better than me. The only signing he's made that didn't work out as well as he (or any of us) wanted was Bravo, and even he has played well when needed this season. As a traditional CB, I agree with most the Evans is shit. But we don't play in a standard way in the back. Our CBs push forward, pass the ball. Even on the team he's on, he has over an 80% passing percentage. He's left footed, so he can provide cover on the left side if everything went to hell. I do wish that he was good in the air as that is sometimes a weakness of ours on defending corners or short free kicks.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I support the idea of signing a 30 year old mediocre PL player any more than the rest of you. But there has to be a reason for this doesn't there?

I'd hoped we'd seen the last of this buffoon having any involvement in transfer dealings.
 
Haven't seen much of Evans this season but the little I have seen has been none too impressive.
 
2018 and people are still slating Marwood who is doing excellent work for us and now trying to blame him for JFE. Smfh.

Having spoken to Brian a few times in the past and other high up officials at city I can tell you for a fact that Brian marwood loves this club and is a vital part of the CFG mate. The club took decisions back then and Brian stepped in to do the deals at that time and the club were looking at young British players to come into the club at the time. Granted de Rossi etc were Bobby’s flavor and ours as fans but Brian didn’t pick the players himself and just crack on

Every time I come to the Transfer Forum, this eyesore of a thread presents itself. It is the stuff of nightmares.
