I've heard him say before, and fairly recently, that both City and Arsenal are special clubs for him, also said that it's common for professional players to support two clubs.

I've always thought Lee Dixon would be an interesting pre match guest in City Square, probably pre Arsenal. His family are Blue through and through, Moss Side born and bred and his dad is an ex player. Lee's a bright lad, quite articulate, had a fantastic career particularly given the number of setbacks he had early on and he has quite a good (Mancunian) sense of humour.

He was a city supporter as a kid and then having a long and successful career at Arsenal will have pulled at his allegiances

I very much doubt players such as Paul Dickov and Richard Dunne were City supporters growing up, but they are dyed in the wool Blues now
Those two fell in line be with us fans for putting up with the shit we put up with.

:)

It’s truly heartening to see the large number of Alan Smith acolytes amongst our support, now it’s been revealed he’s a blue.

Ha thought that myself. Reminded me of when Nigel Bond was a top snooker player but he always looked like the most miserable bloke imaginable. I used to take the mickey out of him and reference him in aww well at least your not Nigel Bond 'jokes'. Then found out he was a blue..

Always liked him after that and I understood the grumpy face. Imagine being locked in a darkened room all day playing snooker and then going to watch Pearces city to cheer yourself up.

I agreed with his points about no one knows what a penalty is now but his explanation of the Zaha pen was delusional. The only possible foul was outside the box but I would have loved to see how many times our players were leaned on in the box.
McClaren just went along with it like a job interview.

Not sure why Sky felt the need to provide Parish with a platform on which to personally defend Zaha, maybe City were offered the same opportunity when Wenger slandered Sterling or Leicester when Gray was criticised by the media for his dive against us and they declined the invitation. Whatever Sky's reasoning it can't have been more confused than Steve Parish's rambling, self contradicting diatribe. It was noticeable that the programme didn't include any viewer responses to the guests comments, which is unusual I think, maybe the ones they received weren't in line with the producers narrative, or we're just abusive. Not difficult to see why Steve McClaren's still unemployed.

His fucking voice is annoying as fuck so tend to mute any games he's commenting on..don't particularly like or dislike him him as a person but that fucking voice.
Mind you saying that I can't stand Carragher and Owen not just that their voices grate but in Owens case because he's a C.unt

Roll over Stan Collymore, tell Neil Custis the news.
What a sad, sad bastard.

What a bitter old luddite, surely he realises the Premier and what the style used to be is encapsulated in the current utd side, the way forward is city, and without our owners bringing the professional setup we have we would not have pep, and because we wouldn't have pep in the Premier utd would have bought the title, again!

The balance of power has changed and the traditional teams don't like it, but ffs I wish they would stop fucking moaning!

Pretty much yes. If you drop a few details on the page it can be read without any subscription requests.

I'll post some snippets of the article but not verbatim as I respect someone's right to make money off their work. Oliver Kay is a nice guy and speaks about the game eloquently - not the shit-stirring gutter press like some of the taken-out-of-context nonsense in the tabloids. His wife professed to be a blue, big fan of Kinkladze back in the day. No joke that. Small world.

To some rival fans, it is a source of hilarity. They may feel unable to enjoy City’s football, but offer them a screengrab of some empty seats in the background and they are rolling in the aisles. “All that talent and they still cannot sell out, eh?” Except that City almost always do. They have had 49 Premier League matches since expanding the capacity to 55,097 and, almost without exception, the only tickets unsold have been in the away end.

Older City fans will tell you, though, that it has not been easy to embrace excellence. Indeed there have been times in their history, particularly in the later years at Maine Road, when they seemed to revel in adversity. In 1995-96, which ended in relegation, their average league attendance was 27,869, their highest in five years. The humiliating 1997-98 season, when they were relegated from the second tier to the third, saw that figure climb to 28,196, their highest in 16 years. It rose again to 28,261 the following season, a grim but ultimately successful battle for promotion from the third tier. And it is when recalling these times that City’s supporters must laugh at the frequent taunts — quite at odds with the “Emptihad” stuff — asking “Where were you when you were shit?”

As other clubs continue to change the demographic of their home crowd, seemingly at the expense of atmosphere, City keep prices lower in order to make sure there are bums on seats. They have an opportunity to be that rare thing: an elite club that retains a distinctly local feel. That may not suit their owners’ global version, but would be something worth treasuring. Whatever the jibes about empty seats every now and then, that would be a great selling point.

In that article, Aldridge (or whoever wrote the article for him) tries to compare the present City team with the Liverpool team he played in, the united treble winners and the Arsenal invincibles. He omits one factor which renders comparisons of his team with the other three to be nugatory, at best: the back pass rule. It’s as facile as comparing Mary Pickford with Meryl Streep.
