The only reason I can think of for sanchez joining them is that maybe he doesn’t feel like he’s “wanted” that much by us by the way we’ve been dealing with arsenal since last summer. Left it till the last day and then now not willing to go over 20 million. Maybe it’s put him off.

I was having a “pop” at purely Alves and this transfer. Nothing more.

The worst type of fans are the ones that refuse to criticise their club because they think they’re perfect.

Without wishing to derail the thread, you have no fucking idea who 'screwed up' the Alves deal. By all accounts, though i don't know for certain, Alves gave Pep his word then changed his mind late on. Apart from City forcing Alves to sign something earlier there's fuck all we could have done to stop him doing what he ended up doing. Probably a blessing anyway although i wanted him here at the time.

As for this transfer, there's fuck all we can do apart from agree terms with Sanchez, supposedly done, and then wait for Arsenal to sell him. If they don't we wait until summer. If Sanchez changes his mind for more cash then fine, fuck all City can do about that, or would you rather we went back to throwing crazy money to attract players?

They either want to come here for footballing reasons or they can fuck off.

Seems no matter how things are going at the club, some will always find a reason to criticise people without knowing the full facts.

What's the significance of 5.30pm tonight?
That's probably when their press conference is, they don't play until Monday and Maureen likes to do his press conference as late as possible so he can have snide and childish digs at managers without them being able to reply instantly and get the back page all to himself.

The media circus surrounding this transfer will only damage United and of course Sanchez if true because he can't if true be moving there for footballing reasons can he? If for instance he does move to us then it'll look like United got jilted at the altar again and if they overpay for him it'll smack of it being a desperate signing.

Thought you were going?

Why are Sky Italia suddenly the supposed experts on a transfer that may happen between two English clubs. Any reason to think they know more than any other media outlet?
I don’t think so , I think it’s to give ssn plausible deniability when what they are reporting turns out to be shite.

From what I can make out we didn't leave it until the last day, our bid was on the table for weeks. Arsenal did. I really don't see where you've gotten that impression from.

Exactly- as far as we even know this could be mind games from united to unsettle us before the Liverpool game.

The mouthpiece of the bbc who has close links to Arsenal even said Alexis wants city.

You seem to know all the facts and you’re saying I couldn’t possibly know them haha.

We could pay the £35m they want, wouldn’t that be a start?

Surely if we’ve agreed terms and pay the asking price, he’s ours?

As for Alves we should have got him signed, that’s my whole point.

A very important paragraph from Samuel Luckhurst's latest article -

It is understood Sanchez's representative Fernando Felicevich is demanding a £300,000 weekly wage and a signing-on fee of £25m if the Arsenal No.7 moves this month. Should he leave on a free six months later, the desired reward is said to be £35m - and that is without accounting for agent's fees. Some senior City insiders are appalled by the demands and adamant the club should not 'rush' into a 'desperate' deal just because United have come into the reckoning.

City play the best football in the world. If Alexis Sanchez chooses to go to the rags and slog through to a 5th place finish and be part of the dumpster fire more power to him. City can just sign somebody else who Pep will turn into a world beater.

If he wants to join now, he will have to lower his demands then. Simple as that.
