Alexis Sanchez

I saw this on another City fan site:

A bit of background on his upbringing:
"Sanchez may now be able to call himself a Premier League footballer but he has not always led such a gilded life.
Arsenal's forward grew up in poverty-stricken rural Chile in a mining town called Tocopilla - which literally means Devil's Corner - and he used to perform on the street for money at the tender age of six.
Sanchez struggled so much growing up that despite his talent, his family couldn’t afford to buy football boots for him to play in top team.
In the end, the mayor of Tocopilla paid up and bought Sanchez the boots – after speaking to his mother."

media blackout says to me they want a big announcement tonite

Except we would be aggressively briefing that we are no longer interested. It was suggested yesterday but no cross paper brief as of yet. Nor have arsenal accepted an offer to the best of my knowledge.

If the rags are willing to pay 400k a week then fair enough, but that's fucking stupid money for a 29 year old who is some distance from deserving such an inflated wage.

Can someone explain why we would pull out now.
It seems that Utd are willing to pay £35 mil plus £350k p.a. which equates to 73mil over say a 4 year deal.
In the summer City were will to pay £60mil + wages & say £250k p.a. over 4 years which equates to 87mil.
So what has changed so much in 6 months.
Utd would still be paying out less that what City were willing to do in the summer.
Interesting numbers. Maybe instead of thinking we needed him, the development of Raz and Leroy means he is now an optional extra.

Its not the total cost that is the issue, we can easily afford it, as we were in for Mbappe at 140m or whatever it was (although probably included selling Kun).

The issue is if we sign him on a huge wage, other players might start to demand more to match him. We have done a good job reducing our wage bill considering our talent, Sanchez could blow it out of the water again or risk players not renewing if they dont get a similar deal.

Just fucking pay him and KBD, Sane, Sterling whatever they fucking want, but make it heavily performance based pay. When will we realise how money doesn’t matter now.

It’s all about now, not 2 years from now when he’ll be fat and shit. Buy him now, wrap up the league and a cup and just maybe the champs league.

Unfortunately we have to do absolutely anything we can to finally win that shit pot champions league cup to announce our arrival on the world stage.

Don't Arsenal have a say in this?
Surely they will accept the highest offer?
If so, they would reject our £20m bid in favour of theirs of £35m? If those figures can be believed?

that is true unless briefing sam lee that we have ended our interest was deemed enough last night

And if we were to smash our wage structure for a player, that player needs to be fucking world class with some serious milage left in the tank. Sanchez falls short, by some distance, in both categories.

So going off this thread we pulled out due to demands or we are just skint or Utd a bigger draw or he greedy or pep has other options

Which is It?

Homegrown. We need someone rapid over five yards across the front post.

Sergio hangs out, but I think a player such as Vardy would take more advantage of our constant pull-backs.

With Ederson's ability to also kick long, it would also be a very useful tactic for keeping teams high when they have a corner or set piece situation?

For the record, Vardy has a face I would love to banjo, but I think he could be a Bellamy-type signing for us, which is what we need in this moment, not a summer superstar.

Quite a good shout actually. Because he is actually a decent finisher too.

If Alexis won't sign for the highest bidder Arsenal can accept the next bid or keep him until May
