Taking kids to the match

Good idea that. We play a game where they get a sweet or choc for every goal scored. Only been doing this for last 2 weeks. At the ground I've said double rewards! Camera on a mini tablet could be good too.
 
My son is 10,he has had a season card for 6 years now,3 years in the family stand and the last 3 years in the south stand 318,he has always loved it,we very rarely miss a home match but when we do he hates it and feels bad about not "turning up ".he even attends all champs league games now as his mother allows him to go to night matches these days.

when he was younger ,i would buy him whatever sweets and drinks he wanted to keep him happy,but i wouldn't allow him to have digital devices etc,many in the south stand allow their kids to take all that rubbish to a match,but if it does help a parent to get their kids into the city bug,so be it.
 
I recently took my 8 year old lad who has ADHD.
I was prepared to leave early if needed. I took a view that if we managed to half time, it would be worth it.
He was so excited, and knew a lot of the chants/songs from listening on TV. He lasted the full match, and was the best behaved i have ever seen him.
I was worried about all the swearing and offensive language, but to be honest, once i warned him, he toned it down...
 
Well i was considering taking my 18 month old son later on this season..... upon reading this thread, that may have to wait a while now!
 
Took the girlfriend’s 6 year old son to the Chelsea game last season and he absolutely loved it. Didn’t take his eyes off it once and was telling me what a great game Willian and Moses were having down the Chelsea wing which I begrudgingly acknowledged. And when yaya came on as sub he was overjoyed. I’d taught him the yaya song sometime back...

In his words, he wants to go in with the noisy lot next time as he pointed at the south stand
 
taken my lad to every home game since he was 3, he is 14 now and had his own season ticket for 11 years. He must be an exception to the rule because he has been great and always enjoyed watching the football especially when we scored. Biggest issue now is making sure he doesn't repeat what the pillocks behind me say!

Sorry for the delay. Got her in without issue which was what I was originally worried with. She enjoyed the first half, but kept her stocked up with snacks. Second half she got a bit bored/tired and had a bit of a lie down and watched some programmes on my phone. But she lasted til the end. Quite proud to hear her shout 'C'mon City' at random intervals early on.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I think I'll leave it a little while before trying again in our usual seats (unless there is no alternative).

Good to hear. My two are 3 and 6. The 3yo was a constant fidget throughout and not interested in the footy. Aguero goal v Burnley made him cry due to loud noise. haha
Bought him a City cuddly to appease him beforehand. Family stand was ok, free lollipop kept them quiet. Temperature wasn't bad, but kids were complaining of cold second half despite being well wrapped up. Metrolink delays of 30 mins at FT were awful and not great for the kids who were frozen by this point. My 6yo, knows a few players like Raheem, Aguero and Ederson. Before the match decided to keep his interest by rewarding him two sweets for any goal we score. Imagine his joy when we hit 4 and Aguero bags 2. When we got home I paused MOTD and showed him us sat behind the goal. The next day in school he tells his friends he's been on the TV. So all in all, I managed to make them both happy despite the football itself not interesting them. But it wasn't about that, it was about showing them City, the ground, the team coach arriving, Moonchester, the screens, the FA cup, the sprinklers(yes they found that hilarious for some reason as well as pigeons flying around the concourse and pitch) and the chips. haha. And of course a few songs "Come on City" and City win/United in the Bin" went down well with them. :P

I've been thinking of taking my daughter to the Bournemouth game on Saturday, she's 3 so I don't know how she'll take it or how long she'll last so didn't want to bother relocating or having anything set in stone.

Have any of you carried your kids through the turnstyle recently and then had them on your lap for the match? I used to see it happen quite a bit, but not so much recently and I don't want to get there to be turned away at the turnstyle.

Good luck mate with a 3 year old, I didn't take mine until she was 5 must admit I didn't take me youngest daughter until she was 6 after that. Saying that it was easier taking the 2 of them together (but not on the pocket especially in the souvenier shop)

I'll take her to a women's or academy match next time.I was somewhat fortunate in that a seat ended up being free next to us, so rather than sitting on my knee for the whole game, she could sit next to me.
 
My experience of taking my kids. Took my oldest son and daughter league cup game when they where around 8 and 6. Took all 3 kids for the first time against Southampton in fa cup when they were 9 7 and 6. Oldest son can still remember Kenwyne Jones doing a backflip. Did a few other games with all 3 and they loved it, Reading game which Ireland scored last minute winner was great. Got my oldest son his first season ticket that xmas. He even managed to get to be a ballboy for one game, queuing up to get in and was asked by an oldish man if he wanted to ballboy as they were short and he already ready had a City tracksuit on. We beat Sunderland 5-0 and I actually thought he was gonna run onto the pitch and celebrate with Yaya as he ran past him after scoring. After a few seasons all 3 kids shared the ticket taking it in turns to go games. Oldest son 21 and Daughter now 19 still come the odd game with me.
 
Been taking my lad intermittently 4-5 games a season since he was 4. In the early days it would have been a nightmare but i used to go with his grandad and uncle so dividing his short attention span between 3 worked well from about 8 yo i think he enjoyed it in its own right rather than the day out with his male family. Like Sunday school though the indoctrination is priceless ;)
