Phil Jones is puzzled by it all too.

Pmsl

We need strengthening at the top especially now gabbys out, to be fair we could probably have done with another before he got injured. Sanchez was supposed to be the answer but we’ll let the rags who generate all their own erm money pay astronomical sums for a 29 year old. My only worry is what our plan b is now or the summer

I don’t subscribe to the Sánchez is greedy bandwagon.
He or his agent have unlikely asked for that salary. It’s been thrown at them.
Most humans would take it and secure theirs and their families futures.
When it comes to money you can never have too much.
What you have to ask is why didn’t rags just offer £50k per week more than what we were offering? Because he was happy to come to city at that time and even wait until summer.
However, when someone throws a ridiculous amount of money at you I challenge anyone to turn that down.
He would have probably even signed a new deal at Arsenal for that kind of money.
You can’t blame the player

Are you serious?

He may have not directly asked for half a million pounds a week but probably kept saying no until they did offer it!!

If he helped them win the CL this year and the league next year then it will be worth it.

Hopefully Txiki and Pep have identified another target who can improve our starting Eleven.

Is that the starting 11 that's 12 points clear?

And now Sanchez can turn the Scum into CL winners. I need to stay away from this place.....

why worry?

Your not worried by having one fit striker? One that himself has a bit of previous when it comes to injuries?

Anyway I’ve thought of who we should go for in the summer and fits our profile. Timo Werner.

How likely are we to sign anyone in this transfer window?

Probably not a lot of quality available?

The only thing that is important is that he does actually strengthen utd for the next few seasons and that is unfortunate.

He would have strengthened us as well so we have lost out initially - how as a club we react to this can change this aspect of it however (whether that be in this transfer window (doubtful) or the next (Needs to)

I gladly watched some of their past buys over the last couple of windows knowing i would never want that player at City.....unfortunately with Sanchez that is not the case.

I don't think it's quite as black or white as you paint. It's not necessarily "admiring them" or "City f*cked up/Txiki's fault", but just because people represent our club doesn't mean we do everything perfectly.

Some posters on BM, seem close to bullying others, to tow "the party line", where we shouldn't debate or learn lessons, when things don't work out as we hoped.

In this case, we wanted Sanchez, (our preference was in summer, and we put in a low bid) , Sanchez wanted to leave Arsenal this window, (his first preference was City).
United were desperate to improve their squad with quality players and they have secured him with a financial package we were not prepared to match. They are driving up the price of players, I don't like it, but it's a market.

If we had the benefit of hindsight, would we have done things differently? I believe we would, but we shall never know.

Have a read of my opinions on the JFE thread & see if I tow the line.

The point I'm making is that a percentage of people have chosen to take the first option on this, as 'City have fucked up the deal' & he was 'all ours'.

Well it's a week later, City haven't been involved, he's been offered 500k pw, Arsenal have apparently accepted the bid, & he STILL hasn't fucking signed yet.

If it was so easy for City, why has it taken so long ?

Would rather see him play a few games in Pegs system (whatever that is), before declaring he has improved them
