Relax it’s just a harmless needle. Since I’m a Cowboys fan and it’s mid-January, the next game that matters is, as usual, the first game of the next season, probably against the Giants.

Ahh, I didn't realize you were a Cowboys fan. I can forgive the banter in that case :)

What are your thoughts on Dak - think he figures it out next year?

The Eagles would be my hometown team but their fans are disgusting. I've been to games as an opposing fan and can say that 9 out of 10 of the fans at games are complete animals who have no sense of decency. They'll yell f-bombs at old ladies and little girls and if you give them a sideways look 50 of them will jump you. They're the worst fans in sports.

I was actually at the first game after they put an actual courtroom in the stadium. It had gotten so bad that they just arraigned people and set bail right at the stadium because it took too much manpower to transport them to police stations/courthouses. The rumor was that the police would have undercover officers at the game wearing Steelers gear so that time I didn't have too hard of a time. More than a few people said "Hello officer" as they walked by me and I was glad to let them believe I was a cop.

Another fun Eagles fact was that for years the NFL wouldn't allow a 4:00pm kickoff for Sunday games because the fans would be too drunk by the time kickoff came around. They're also known for their "Asshole" chants where they'll scream the word "Asshole" at opposing fans for 3-4 straight hours.

Oddly, Philiadelphia as a city is actually quite charming and a great place to visit.

I love how Bill Burr totally gave the entire City of Philadelphia the middle finger. Totally epic.

Next season is your season then; just like the Dippers.

Do we need to light a candle?
Unfortunately I will admit that’s a fair characterization of many of us Cowboys fans (minus the candle). I work with a fellow fan whose gameroom is a shrine to the ‘Boys. He has never once in the 12 years I’ve known him predicted us to finish any worse than 9-7 and making the playoffs. PMSL.

Honestly I think he suffered from not having Romo there to guide him along this year. Love him or hate him Romo’s football IQ is off the charts and I think that was what was missing this year, along of course with Zeke for six games. Hopefully he figures it out again next year but I personally think we have a lot of holes to fill in the offseason in any case. I can’t see the anything but the Eagles winning the division again.

Being a Brit, I'm only a fringe follower of American Football. I remember Channel 4 started showing weekly highlights in the early 80's, and I kind of stated taking an interst back then.
I stayed up to watch the Patriots win last years SB, and it was one if the most entertaining games I have seen for years.

I am working out in the States at the moment, and I watched both play off games live on TV (damn, there are so many adverts), but I will be back home for the final.

It was a piss poor year in the NFL for hardcore and casual fans alike (unless you are a fan of the Eagles or Pats). The player National Anthem protests, the injuries to marquee players, Roger Goodell’s player conduct “policy” that he makes up as he goes along and resulting suspensions, and a fairly forgettable set of playoff games with a couple of exceptions. Meh.

Not to mention shitty relocations to a soccer stadium that couldn't sell out less than 25k seats, 60% of which were away supporters anyway. Even the TV ratings for the Chargers in LA were abysmal and they totally killed the market in San Diego. The NFL is in grave danger of swallowing itself up its own arse, another Pats SB won't help.

Yep, forgot to mention the detestable franchise relocations.

Just my own personal opinion but I think the refs are on the take now. At least where the Pats are concerned. I wouldn't put it last Kraft. Goodell lost the battle trying to rain on their little parade. One more power struggle and hes out. He knows it.

And one stinking penalty for the Pats and no holding calls? OL hold while they breath. I don't so much mind when the officiala miss stuff but they don't call the same, both ways, where the Pats are concerned. Never.

America wants the Pats to just go away. They are unlikable and irredeemable. You can admit that they are the greatest but they are about as lovable and charismatic as bronzed presidential busts.

Romo has been brilliant for NBC this year. Gives a really good insight into the game

I'd agree with that. And I think Romo is a genuinely good guy. I was hoping he'd retire at the end because it seemed like, with his back injuries, he was one hit away from spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair. But to your point his football knowledge is unquestionable and there were multiple times as a broadcaster this year he seemed to be calling things 6-7 plays ahead. I do think Dak suffered without him immensely because - and I mean this in the kindest way possible - I'm not exactly sure what Jason Garrett does, or how he is aiding his development? That combined with Zeke being a dumbass, Dez and the Oline regressing, it doesn't seem like things are easy on him. We'll see - I think from a talent perspective he's somewhere in between his rookie year and what happened this year.

As an eagles fan since birth, I'm 62, season ticket passed down through the generations etc. and a serious dislike, not hatred, of the cowboys, I agree with your assessment of Romo. He has an incredible ability to recognize defensive sets and a great sense of how to beat them. Most of the Eagles fans I speak to will begrudgingly admit that he's a terrific analyst.
For those of you who compare our fans to caged animals, as an outsider you are mindnumbed by the national media. It's easy to bring up the snowballs or the fights in the stands, or the taking the piss over the other supporters. We have better foods than cheesesteaks and in reality the people here are incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to football.
As I said in a previous post, football in this country existed for 33 years before the first superbowl. Just as football existed in the UK long before the premier league.
I say bring on the stinking patriots, they are the rags of the NFL. It will be good to see their reign over and their dynasty crumble.
