FA Cup Games 27/28 Jan & 6/7 Feb replays

What makes football unique is the non stop nature of it. All decisions could be ‘game changing’ particularly given the speed City and the Dippers can counter-attack.
If Mignolet had saved that header and it’d gone for a corner and West Brom had then scored, Barry wouldn’t have been given offside. If the player putting the cross in for Salah had fouled a West Brom player before he’d crossed it, they’d have only looked at the penalty.
Also, if it had kicked off at 3 this afternoon, it’d be 1-3 and Barry wouldn’t be on a yellow card.

When there are contentious decisions and goals the game stops anyway.

They can quicken the process up but if they get the decisions correct more times than not...

Football is an instantaneous outpouring of emotion not let's wait 3 minutes and cheer... or not.

There will be because the ref won't give it unless he feels like it.

Like Mike Dean's pen v Sterling.
The refs won't have the excuse of not seeing things when they have access to a video replay, that's the whole point. It removes their excuses.

That part will never be fixed. It is a fucking terrible idea unless you are Utd or Liverpool.

Don't agree mate. All it'll do is highlight the corrupt ones, if they are still allowed to get away with the shit they pull after a live screen review then we have a major problem.

....because they're probably the same people who wished City would go back to being crap.

People hate change.
Well, no. I'm against it's implementation at the moment because VAR is not the next step to removing mistakes from officials.

Actually making them accountable for their mistakes is what has to happen; as ludicrous as that is to have to say as it's not currently what happens.

Referees don't need more help, they don't need more training, more respect. They're wrapped in untold layers of cotton wool at the moment and this is just a lazy excuse to give them not only more of the limelight in games but yet another "safety net".

If an official's job the following week was at stake each match, their match fee/wage, they'd give a few more fucks as to how they went about things. If they acknowledged that fans don't pay to watch them, they'd stop putting themselves in the headlines. If they communicated with the players and were held accountable to them instead of shushing and ignoring them, they'd produce better informed decisions.

Referees are there to facilitate a game of football, not dictate it.

VAR at the moment, with the standard of refereeing in this league, is the equivalent of McDonald's offering a delivery service. It makes things easier for some people but doesn't help them better themselves.

Which is exactly my point in my last post.

If the cheating continues after this level of interrogation then there is an astrofuckingnomical problem in this game

Or it will stop it almost immediately... something many have complained about for years. I'd give them all for 2 or 3 matches, watch it stop all the holding which is ridiculous currently

Which is why it's meant for game changing decisions.

Those were game changing decisions. And both were right.

If people start splitting hairs it will never work.

It works in a multitude of sports. It will work in this one too.

I thought it was for offside, pens and serious foul play, which it should be, anythung else should be down to the ref and lino's.

Works well in other sports most of the time and really hasn't slowed the first half down anymore than of a linesman and ref have a discussion.

It's not supposed to be 'game changing' decisions it's supposed to be 'clear & obvious' errors which Riley said wouldn't include offside.

Neithef were that obvious they were close, technical fouls. Salah wasn't dragged down, he was slightly pulled & dived.

Liverpool trying to get another replay now.
