You've gotta be kinding! Zaha over Mahrez - no thank you.

At this point, I would have Mahrez at City in a heartbeat. He'd be sensational in our squad.

Would think the odds on Txiki pulling this one out of the hat at this stage in the window are long.
Both will be great. But I'm with Andrew, I rate Zaha's potential on our squad slightly above Mahrez's.

The difference in speed, physicality, and Athleticism jjust about shades it for me over technique and pure trickery.

Come on Leicester take our money

What would they do with it in so little time. That has to be the problem. Why keep it in a bank when they could get it in the summer and spend it.

To persuade them Mahrez will really have to do a Sanchez and they think he will just not play for them if they say no.

Am i correct in saying that Leicester were open to selling Mahrez before but nobody met their valuation? I don't remember them point blank saying he wasn't for sale.

Roma bid around 20-30 million in july but i think Leicester were looking for 45-50 million plus.

Massive offer and player wants to move plus they are safe from relegation and have little to chase in terms of trophies.

They would want 70-80m minimum..not worth it ....use bernardo silva, with David also back now

Diabate in and Mahrez out for £40-50m would be good business for Leicester and allow them to buy another striker to replace Moussa and Ulloa who both left in this window

They're still in the cup and outside chance of Europa place as the league cup winner place will not be needed.

Mahrez will have to convince them he wants it and they think he will not be the player he is now for them to sell and not buy someone else in a day.

Mahrez is one year older, scores more and creates more. He has also managed to do it while playing in a title winning side, showing he was able to step up to a required level. Zaha was given his chance at a higher level and granted he was just a kid but he failed miserably.

I can understand people having some doubts about either of them but if we are talking about a straight choice between the two, its barely even a fair contest in my opinion.

This is still a Pep team so technique and trickery more than shade it IMO. We have pace and athleticism from Walker, Mendy, Sterling and Sane on our flanks but we also need what players like Bernardo and Mahrez can bring.

Pep clearly recognizes the physical / athletic requirements of the Premier League but he just does not sign plays who lack technique and, IMO, Zaha does.

yeah that was my understanding of it. I seem to remember Shakespeare being quizzed at the time and he seemed pretty resigned to losing Mahrez.

Their manager had previously mentioned 100m was the bid to sell him...even assuming that was bs talk....they would still for 60-70m

We cannot pay crazy money or the panic buy after losing Sanchez will be the line the press adopt.

They will not care that it was the wages and our pay structure and not a transfer fee as they have not taken that in and keep saying we could have afforded him.

Hence Tolmie saying he is doing his bit I guess.

Mahrez was the first African player to win Players Player of the Year in 2016 and a much more complete player than Zaha
