Dont know if it was a clause in his contract or an agreement but according to his agent Mahrez was promised a big move after winning the prem...........
Riyad Mahrez expects Leicester City to honour the agreement they struck last summer and allow him to leave at the end of this season, which will spark interest from, among others, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal.

Mahrez believes that he has honoured his side of the bargain after giving Leicester another season following their Premier League title success, as former manager Claudio Ranieri requested.

Now Mahrez will tell the Foxes that he wants the club to keep Ranieri’s word and let him make a big-money move that will allow him to keep playing in Europe and challenging for trophies

Player will have to force a move.

We won’t pay stupid money for him.

We are not that desperate.

Well he handed in a transfer request last year, so if we are genuinely interested, I expect he will be more than willing to play his part.

Perhaps there's a gentleman's agreement between board and mahrez that if top team comes in they will left him go for a certain fee. He would make a huge difference playing the parked bus where pace is limited to lack of space between the backlines.

Either way we will have to pay more this week than we would last week to get this over the line in hours I imagine.

I think it would be a bit of a panic buy tbh. Does he have the commitment and desire that Pep looks for in a player? I've never seen him bother trying to press our defend.

They'd also have a field day if we broke our transfer record in back to back days!

The fucking media will have a " field day " on just about every aspect of City business . Better to do what the club see as right and ignore the Rag loving cnuts .

This is great. Just when we thought deadline day would be dull! Well be Sat in the etihad checking our phones!! Hope the Wi-Fi is up to it

he was poor last year and maybe wasn't motivated...this year he looks up for it

You would think it unlikely that Leicester would accept an opening bid. I wonder how high we are willing to go.
Any offer at this stage, as we know it needs to progress quickly, will likely be a “take it or leave it” top threshold offer with the player agitating for the move.

Not saying that is happening (I am actually doubtful it is) but I don’t think we would get bogged down in a iterative fee negoation or a bidding war.

Still seems short sighted to go in for someone now just because Sane is out for a couple of months, I know we have a chance to win 4 trophies this season but surely what we have already is decent enough?!
