Mocking someone with depression

Maybe if these cunts had suffered or know someone who's suffering they wouldn't be so twattish.

I'd have been more surprised if opponents hadn't used it to maybe try and put him off his game. Human nature, find someone's weak point, exploit it.

They later apologised saying friends had killed themselves . Unfortunately many of us are capable of being utter cnuts.

Who thinks this is OK,I know it goes on at all levels but ffs what sort of people are they who believe it's acceptable?

Yeah I know it's football related, mods move it if in wrong section.
I think this was what was first meant by the term toxic masculinity before the misguided feminists weaponised it:

The way men treat each other is probably a lot to do with suicide rates IMO. It's the reason so many suffer mental and physical illness often leaving things until they are too late, toughing it out isn't always the best answer obviously and I myself haven't been to the doctors in bloody years, it's ingrained in us IMO and would have to start from youth to change it.

Off limits for banter imo. People at a low ebb do not need such comments. Especially when they have just given themselves a pat on the back for just being able to face the world another day. I hope the ones doing it never suffer it, silly idiots.

We wonder why gay players are still worried about coming out then you see this and understand why.

Some of these laddish players with a gob who do it should be named and shamed badly, it would soon stop if only for fear of being a social pariah.

Almost all people can see how distasteful and thick it would be to mock somebody for their depression. I think there is a kind of tendency for most people though, to be cynical. Depressives are not nice to be around. It makes them unattractive, and because you can't feel their pain after a while it's tempting to think 'Drama queen!' or something. There is the fallacy of relative privation, and I think we can all make something similar.. a sort of 'Can't you see how lucky you are!' - You can easily see why this is a silly thing to say to somebody. As the footballer says. a depressive can easily understand that his own problems aren't comparable to the starving African child

Also, some people just don't give a shit what they say.

Cunts being Cunts. We all do it.

Leave it at that and we can all move on
those taunting can move on but the one being taunted can't

He said: "I had fans shouting on the pitch to me shortly after I did my story, 'go and hang yourself and do it right this time'.

"I've had other players mentioning me slitting my wrists and stuff.

"You get the fans that come in and pay their money, they say what they want and then they go home and forget about it and I'm the one that it affects.

"It bothers me for the rest of the weekend. It gets me in a bad place again."

To be honest, what did he expect? How many fucking idiots do you hear at any given City game? If Ashley Young came out before the Derby to say he had mental health issues and even contemplated suicide, he'd get slaughtered by our fans. Every time he came to take a corner there'd be tons of it. There would be a song, and plenty would join in.

In fact, when Andy Goram came out and said he was a schizophrenic, Rangers played Aberdeen away the week after. When he was in front of the Aberdeen fans they sang 'there's only 2 Andy Gorams'......that chant is always voted in the top 2 or 3 of the best football chants ever. Sounds funny, but it's still abusing someone with mental health issues.

It's called sledging, not banter and it's fairly commonplace. Admittedly it's not all as distasteful as that.

It's disgusting, people like gary speed tried to hide it and gave up in the end,as a depressive who has stood on the edge of a cliff literally,if i couldn't talk about it i would have jumped and i deal with it every day,in the week we lost one of our own to depression you should think again about abusing anyone brave enough to speak out,if you tell someone to top themselves don't be surprised if they do

Cunts move on though don't they? good for them

Compassion doesn't exist for some people, thousands of years of evolution yet we still have neanderthal traits in us.

Issues like death, family, race and personal issues are still a big problem in football by the minority of knuckle draggers that attend football matches.

I remember this.

It’s not just football though, it’s everywhere.
