His replacement is already here, and is just getting ready to grow into those boots.

Jesus is nowhere near ready to replace Aguero yet.

It's not really a slight on the lad as Aguero wouldn't have been ready at 21 either, but we will need someone else to bridge the gap.

I still think he will be moved on in the summer, even if he scores 30-40 goals this season.

I can see us looking at a player + cash deal for someone like Dybala.

Either way I am unconvinced Pep is happy with him as first choice, and Jesus isn’t ready to be relied upon as first choice.

Jesus is still learning his craft.

lol you are funny but persistent i guess

Very frustrating today. Passed when he should have shot, shot when he should have passed and just wasn’t clinical when he did have a shot. He’s got that spot to himself at the moment but isn’t rising to the challenge as he would have done a couple of years ago.

Isn't rising to the challenge? He's got 9 goals in the 9 games this year, scoring in pretty much every game. No idea what "rising to the challenge" looks like if that's not it. People seem desperate to write him off for some inexplicable reason

He didn't really get much opportunity today but isn't getting into goal scoring positions enough. We should be making more of the opportunities we are making. Can’t see us winning the CL until we resolve this.

And who has he got them against? Those games this year have largely been against cannon fodder in the cups. The old Sergio got them against every team from top to bottom but he’s only got one goal from open play against the other top 6 clubs and that was in the 5-0 v Liverpool. I certainly wouldn’t write him off but he’s not performing to the same level that he was 2 years ago. I don’t see how anyone can deny that.

He's only played in 4 games against top 6 opposition, scoring 2 and assisting 2. Hardly a stick to beat him with.

Some of you better be careful what you wish for as I'm struggling to spot many strikers in the world who score anywhere near as many goals as the apparently struggling Sergio Aguero.

Jesus is a quality player but he has had 2 injures where he has been out for ages and so young hope it’s just one of those things and not something that’s going to happen every season.

Having an opinion on Aguero is one thing but backing it up with that stat is not right IMO.

Last 12 months Aguero has played 9 games against Big 6 sides and scored in 6 of those games of which 1 was a penalty.

Before today his strike rate was the best in the league again - just ahead of Kane. Talking of Kane, he has played 8 games against Big 6 sides in the last 12 months. He has scored in 3 of them and in 1 it was a penalty.

I thought he played pretty well today. Let’s face it, we controlled that game right up til about 75mins when it was poor passing and lack of composure at the back which let them come on to us. Can’t always blame the strikers, defence should be able to grind out a 1-0 now and again if we need to

Really weird he passed that one ball off (slightly behind) to Sterling, was the best shooting position he got in all match. Should’ve buried that and job done.
