How many points to win the league?

Any team catching us really needs to win eleven so theirs goes up at least 11 and if on that form probably gain 25. Do you work on Talk Sport?
Well if they gain 25 then they are still behind. Not that your logic more any sense. Why are they more likely to win by big margins then they are to win 1-0 or 2-1?

Do you lick windows?

Best City can finish -------- 105 points
Current City average ------ 101 points
Premier League record ---- 95 points
Club record finish ---------- 89 points
Best United can finish ----- 89 points
Best Liverpool can finish -- 87 points
Best Chelsea can finish ---- 86 points
Best Spurs can finish ------- 85 points
Current United average ---- 79 points
Best Arsenal can finish ----- 78 points
Current Liverpool average - 76 points
Current Chelsea average --- 73 points
Current Spurs average ------ 73 points
Current City total ---------- 72 points
Best Burnley can finish ----- 69 points
Current Arsenal average --- 63 points
Current United total -------- 56 points
Current Liverpool total ----- 54 points
Current Spurs total ---------- 52 points
Current Chelsea total ------- 50 points
Current Arsenal total ------- 45 points

So the based on the current average points hauls, no team other than us is expected to get over 80 points, although I think at least 1 team will, probably Liverpool, maybe United as well.

I expect both Liverpool and Manure to record points above their average to date but again I suggest you are right when I assume you mean just over 80 points.

Personally I think it will get down to the result at Manure , if Liverpool lose then Manure will finish above them other wise I suspect Liverpool will.

I think the very Utd can hope for is 84 points but suspect they will finish between 80-82 points and likewise Liverpool but again lose to Manure and I can see Liverpool finishing shy of 80 points.

Neither Spurs or Chelsea will make 80 points this season but there is still a chance that they can both finish ahead of Manure and Liverpool if they both continue to under perform against the sides they should be winning against like Newcastle for example yesterday.

Liverpool are more than likely to drop points against the likes the mid table sides they still have to play , there only saving grace is that they have already played us at COMS.

No, if my maths are right, if both teams get maximum points up until the derby, even if we beat them, The earliest we can win the league is the following match. (against spurs at Wembley)

And believe me that would be just as sweet for those of us old & ugly enough to still hold a massive grudge (Re 81, Ricky Villa, & all that bad sh*t)
Your maths aren’t right.

Another approach is to divide the points difference between City and the other by the number of games outstanding. That gives

Man U 1.4
L’Pool. 1.6
Chel. 1. 7 (assuming here Chelsea beat West Brom today)
Spurs. 1.8
Ars. 2.4

So for example to catch City , Man U would on average need 1.4 points more than us game by game to the end of the season.

For all the others the figure is over 3, i.e they are already out of the race.

For the first time I’m feeling relaxed that City will win the title. But the fat lady hasn’t started singing yet !

so we agree on top 4

i was surprised at bottom 3 though, you would have got great odds on all three promoted teams staying up at the beginning of the season.
if i am right, which i rarely am, good news for those who backed City to score 104

We still need to be cautious. We have a lot of tough away games in Arse, Spurs, Stoke, Everton (their cup final) and we saw yesterday that any result can happen in this league.
The Arsenal game on the Thursday won't be easy, if we win the league cup are we going to follow it up with beating them again so quickly?

Chelsea at home 2 days from Arsenal will also be tough, long way to go yet.

No what you saw yesterday was a very ordinary utd side struggle to create or score and they got beat.

We on the other hand are a different beast and are effectively 17 points clear with goal difference.

Its over, accept it and enjoy it instead of desperately trying to find a reason as to why it might still be tough or we will struggle.

Win our 5 home games and it's done mathematically I think.

If the nightmare scenario for the rags (us winning it on derby day) was looking more and more likely with a couple of weeks to go before the derby, would they consider intentionally, er, not winning a game or two so that we'd have won it before we play them?

Mourinho would play the kids the games before to ensure it wouldn’t happen. He would also be lauded as some great for giving the raggy youths a chance before they are fucked off to Sunderland, stoke and Leicester.

I was being kind with the Utd results, but I still cant see them finishing any worse then 4th unfortunately.
I had us on 114 goals.
