Carragher spits at fan / now prank on g neville backfires

How is it greater harm? It would appear there was no injury or fear of injury.

Are you suggesting that a forty five year old man spits in the face of a child and then it is discussed over 28 pages of bluemoon and other less important media and there is no psychological injury?

Good luck getting a judge or magistrate to be with you on that one.

Not necessarily correct. It can be common assault if the victim apprehends the immediate infliction of unlawful force. That’s not inconceivable based on that footage.
It's stretching it a bit though, they're in two cars moving in opposite directions and Carragher at no time moves to get out of the car or drive after them.

If there is a complaint I would think that the CPS would see it as a chargeables assault. He spat in the face of a girl, there is an admission and supporting evidence.

Yes, but spitting in someone's face, on it's own, regardless of whether there's a complaint or not, isn't necessarily assault. Without accompanying violence or the threat of violence, it's battery (unlawful application of force upon a person). Therefore it can't be assault with a weapon, or aggravated assault, as it fails the "assault" part.

Jail time would be inappropriate for this. Community service would be better (and cheaper for the tax-payer). Can't decide whether he should be sacked. Possibly not, if it's a one off. Suarez can go around biting people and not get sacked. And Maureen can eye gouge people without consequence. And those two transgressed during the course of their employment. Carraghar was off duty, I think.

He has to be sacked, you cannot represent a broadcasting organisation like sky after that kind of behaviour. They will see it has liable to bring them into disrepute.

They're gas-lighting us. Perhaps Adam Johnson should be invited to comment as well. And Roy Keane, come to that; and Eric fucking Cantona.
