Refreshing and great perspective on the match from Jonathan Liew in The Independent without all the "atmosphere" nonsense which all football fans around the country are fed up of hearing about.

Echoes what a lot of us have been saying on here. Anfield another dimension City, just a bad performance - move on and hope for a great one on Tuesday, Gundogan as an extra man in midfield simply doesn't work etc.

Interesting reading and I hadn’t twigged that Gundogan has started all 4 of the games we’ve not scored in.

Major UK Media breakdown today over Di Marzio leaking the Pep Pogba story before the embargo, John Cross, Curtis etc all fuming on twitter

Hinchcliffe will be getting the sack from Sky. During the Cardiff v Wolves game they were promoting the two derbies tomorrow. Hichcliffe pipes up "come on the blues in both games"

Martin keown’s at it again. Liked him as a player, loathe him as a pundit. Changes his mind every fvcking week and whilst not overtly anti city has no real persoective about us as one of the great english clubs historically

“City can use today to build towards what they are hoping will be their greatest ever night in europe”

Greater than the night we won the cup winners cup martin you fvcking clown ?

Most of these overpaid rentaquote cvnts should be made to do homework on football history as a precursor to being hired.

I think keown is more than fair to us. Overcoming this deficit would be pretty close to our greatest European night, certainly best of the modern era

Yep, just a bad performance. Move onto today and hope our big players perform like they have done all season.

He's actually been a huge fan this season. In fact, if I didn't know him and just listened I'd swear blind he was a Blue.

Winning a QF no matter what the circumstances can never be greater than winning a trophy but Keown like so many others who are old enough to know better attaches undue significance to current events at the expense of genuine past glories.

Here's a cracker from some dickhead in The Guardian today named Barry Glendenning:

He is writing about 'Derbies that really mattered'...

'It was the fourth of six straight victories for Roberto Mancini’s side, who subsequently beat Newcastle before wrapping up the first title of their brave new petro-dollar-fuelled dawn in the most dramatic circumstances imaginable against Queens Park Rangers.'

Just why would you write that? What does it add to the article or how does it inform the reader? Bitter, pathetic attempt at journalism.

Don't be so touchy. It's a perfectly reasonable statement.

Keown is alright by me.
Me too. Very honest and straightforward. You don't have to agree with what he says all the time.

It's only words at the end of the day. We can be better than them.

There are some terrible writers in the newspapers, and you wonder how they write for a living and get away with it. Getting contacts, and keeping them is one thing, but a precondition must be that you can write and have something interesting to say.

Used to be the day that we'd queue and wait for the Pink and the M.E.N and our over every word, and inch. Not any more. Not sure the alternative is much better - bully's paradise behind anonymity. Wherever I go now online, I use my real name so people think twice about abuse. Find it works.

Shocked too be honest he’s so impartial it feels like he favours the opposition sometimes when City are on.

David Conn on 5Live defending us to the hilt and refusing to get baited into "state-sponsored" and "bought success" stuff.

I was a little surprised at how positive he was and so was the host, Jonathan Overend, who had to take a few cheap shots.

Just caught the end of that. I was very surprised to hear him talk positively about the club and retaining it's identity and relationship with the support.
