We’re bombing Syria

Without getting started on Iraq as we’ll end up going off topic, this isn’t the same, we’re not invading.

In an ideal world Assad would be replaced by someone equally secular but not evil beyond imagine like Assad, he’s broken the Geneva Convention dozens and dozens of times now so should be removed.

However I think the West are resigned to the fact this probably isn’t possible with the support he has so the only thing we can do is strike bases where these atrocities are being launched from without actually going in.

This is nothing more than us drawing the line both with Putin’s power grab and Assad’s murder on his own civilians.

Bush declared " Mission Accomplished" quite famously - got slaughtered for it but rode the storm out and has ended up none the worse for it ( though that probably says a lot about those who have followed too ) - however Bliar - who has clearly acted with conviction and certainly believes what he did was right and has been mostly despised ever since. I agree that was different as it was an invasion but both are military action and both had a more than healthy "no" from the populace prior to it taking place ( bbc polling over the week before showed 80% NOT in favour of the bombing). I doubt that most think that deeply as to why the action took place nor indeed what it was targeting its just the fact that it took place without referral to Parliament on the coat tails ( again ) of a US President mostly derided here in the UK - all that does May no credit whatsoever. If the tension is cranked up in the region again - if it goes badly for her in the house tomorrow or if Assad does it again she will struggle.

Its all gonna boil over at some point. Not only is it Russia but the USA are strategically surrounding China in the pacific

Whilst the syria threat is at the forefront with Russia involved, this other threat that could escalate is being fought quietly. At the moment Trump is looking to stop the import of chinese products and bring back factories to the US so that they are not reliant on China making the majority of needed goods - which was announced the other week on live tv during a speech.

What might seem like a trade war at present, has a bigger threat looming

I'm happy to be laughable on here it means I'm doing something right.
Where’s the link the UN vote stating that air strikes were illegal?

You claimed there was one.

You claimed I was ignorant for saying there wasn’t one.

Why lie?

Oh no. Some **** with a blog has an issue with it.

The U.N. don’t though so I’ll just have to go along with them instead.

I find it astonishing though you’d believe Assad and Putin, both with a history of murder before Theresa May.

Trump is a liar and a cretin I know but Macron and May are less-trustable than Assad and Putin?

Come on, I’d be able to sell the car straight back to you for double the money.

We don't even need to believe our leaders because this was a reaction and the only damage we have done has been to chemical weapons factories.

The hypocrisy of some people is quite unbelievable when it comes to this. You have them all on saying how terrible the things we are doing are when in actual fact Russia is the one who has been pounding Syrian streets and hospitals.

People are completely against any intervention in Syria and any bombing but how many of these people have condemned Russia or Assad, not a single one. They are dead against us stopping the Russians which makes me wonder if they are all Kremlin bots or sick individuals who like chemical bombings.....

How are we the bad guys again for bombing a chemical weapons factory..

As you say the views of some and the outright hypocrisy and ignorance really is astonishing.

I wonder what the legal case these folk will have for Assad's use of chemical weapons on his own people. No doubt that is all fine and dandy.

He's not just a **** with a blog though.

Yet again you have just made up some shit so people follow your warmongering naritive as usual

The ****, you so willingly call him is Professor Jack Goldsmith. A man who graduated from Harvard Law School and went onto become assistant Attorney General.

Not really a **** but someone far more knowledgeable on this sort of stuff than the keyboard warriors or bullies on this forum

What is the lawful case for Russia dropping bombs on Syrian citizens in Syria, why has this not been discussed? What are the implications if we had not attacked, would the Syrian war be over and they would all be dancing in the streets, have I missed something?

Yes yes you could argue Russia were invited into Syria but does that mean our attacks last weekend are illegal purely because we did not ask Assad if it was okay.................?

This seems to be a catch-22 situation, like where Corbyn says we should do this through the UN despite his full knowledge that Russia can veto every single thing that goes through the UN...

Conveninent.

More knowledgeable than SWP? Not possible, surely?

Can we change the title to the past tense? At least before the world cup starts.
