Exactly. It would be interesting to know what type of players voted for Salah though.
It's always been like that IIRC Peter Barnes won his young player of the year award the night we won the league Cup in 76 before March had startedAny Season awards voted for and given out before the season has ended are not worth winning.

If Salah and Kev had been injured all season, we would have still won the league. Liverpool however would not have got top 4 and certainly would not still be in the CL. So you can make an argument for Salah having a greater impact on his side.
There have been quite a few spurs players who have won this award and the last time they were champions was 61. So the winner doesn't always come from the league champions.
