Never condoning the actions of the supporters of either Liverpool or Roma who were responsible for an innocent person getting seriously injured, but the hypocrisy of LFC is absolutely stunning.

Had they and Mersesyside Police shown the same concern for City and other visiting teams subjected to such disgraceful attack on the City coach, then perhaps the incidents with the Roma supporters may never have taken place. The fact that neither the club nor the police demonstrated any tangible concern about the safety of the City players or supporters just demonstrates that they were both complicit in the attack, even if they did not outwardly encourage it.

But now there is a genuine concern being expressed for the safety of Liverpool supporters attending the game in Roma , by LFC which really is the height of hypocrisy imo.

Nobody should be threatened with injury or even death for simply attending a football match, but LFC and Merseyside Police have to accept a substantial amount of the blame due to their irresponsible part in condoning such " greetings " by their disgraceful set of supporters responsible for their feral behaviour.

Perhaps those now wringing their hands in horror should reflect on the role they have played in this matter, and a condemnation by the British media should also have been forthcoming at the time of the City attack. Apart from being mentioned, I do not recall much of an outcry by our media other than talking about the " glorious atmosphere on European nights at Anfield ".

Precisely.
They set the tone, they created the ethos of aggressive and violent behaviour and are now surprised that others want to play them at their own game.
Downright hypocrisy.

FAO Liverpool fans. If you make the final. Remember to use your wits, and keep valuables and tickets in a safe, concealed place. It will be full of scousers.

It's not a scouce problem, otherwise Everton (who arguably have a bigger local following) would be the same, it's an LFC problem

Everton haven't been behind the door for attacks on away fans in the past but I agree LFC are the bigger problem, probably because like the rags they have that sense of entitlement 15-20 years of success appeared to give them.

Scousers in one's and two's are ok when you encounter them but some towns if there are a larger group living there they tend to gravitate to one another and become a nuisance. They have this "Scousers against the world" mentality you don't tend to find in people from elsewhere.

Making a lot of noise about safety ahead of the trip to Rome. Shame they did not show the same concern about the behaviour of their own fans

Have you never been to Leeds?

Have you never been to Leeds?

I am talking about people living in other places, not the actual place they were born and still live in. Sure ex pat Brits will often socialize together when living abroad and everyone usually has some pride in their roots but scouser s take it to another level.

Stay at fucking home then like their old bill tell people injured there. Have Rome shopkeepers expressed concern yet about the possible danger to their shops being robbed given those cheeky chappies previous reputation abroad?

Has the article been taken down?

The link goes straight to the red dippers' homepage.

Yes.

I would assume FSG, LFC, and their lawyers have contacted the paper. Not to mention the various Liverpool fan groups.

But if you Google the headline, or words to that effect, you'll probably find the article.
floating around the interweb.

It's not much different to what is quoted in the Echo.

i wonder if the police in rome will line the route with vans so their fans can get a vantage point on top of em to rain missiles down

If the Roma fans attack the dipper bus, and Roma win the game 3-0 , with the Liverpool players looking a bit shaken, will the game get replayed ?
