New Kits 2018/19

Actually I quite like it. We've had worse, Navy socks not too bad and at least they've stayed with the white shorts.

I don't really mind it too much as its kind of what we've come to expect from Nike. They will have all of their clubs wearing the same shit in different colours, Spurs will have the same one as us in white with probably grey on the arms or something. I've not bought any shirts since we've moved over to Nike and won't be doing until we move away from them.

St George is the patron Saint of about fifty different areas. Surprisingly though, not England. The patron saint of England is St Edmund but for some unknown reason we adopted St George and his flag
It’s to do with the Crusades.
St George was the patron saint of the republic of Genoa at the time of the crusades. The Genoese navy pretty much owned the Mediterranean and flew the cross of st George on their ships. The English made a deal with the Genoese republic and were allowed to adopt the cross which gave them protection from other factions in the med guaranteeing them a safe passage.
History lesson over.

Nice one, cheers for that

You’re quite right mate that there shouldn’t be anything wrong with waving your countries flag.

But unfortunately far-right groups like the BNP, NF, EDL and others have adopted the Union Jack and St George’s cross as their own symbols.

Unfortunately that taints it for everyone else who wants to use it for more moderate purposes. I don’t think the Welsh, Scottish or other European flags have quite the same fascist associations. Although I’d love to see someone try to put a Spain flag on a Barca shirt. Afterall, they play in Spain...

Barcelona wanting to be independent is the reason they wouldn't want a Spain flag on their kit. Completely fucking different to us being an English club, in England, not an area that feels it should never have been part of England in the first place and wants to be completely independent from it.

Would those who don't like the St. George's cross be happier with the "#MANCITY" those other pictures have in it's place?

An actual twatter hashtag on a kit.

It looks decent here, the shoulders look more subtle

Not too great here with the gamma/contrast too high

legibility for the Etihad being in a dark colour was always given to be the reason we could'nt have it in white....have Nexen chosen white so they cant be seen?

Which year did City fully transpose into sky blue and dark blue tops from their more familiar sky blue and white...beautifully subtle how it was done...just looks shit.

Either way the shoulders are darker than the body of the shirt, like last year’s kit, though perhaps not as pronounced.

The weave pattern would have been much better as a very subtle embossing on the same sky blue on the sleeves, like the example below.

The darker one is terrible, but it's marginally better than the lighter one. Both are shockingly bad efforts going off those images.

Will reserve full judgement til tomorrow night but it's not looking too good at this stage!

As far as I’m aware, City have never had an England flag on their shirts. And plenty of City fans want it to remain that way.

If you want a shirt with England flag on it, pop yourself down to Sports Direct and buy yourself a Lonsdale.

My point is that comparing city having an England flag on their shirt to Barcelona having a Spanish one is absurd. They're extremely different circumstances.

But anyway you support an English club so what's your problem with the English flag

I wouldn't be angry if there was a flag, was but it is adding unnecessary red which is a problem for me, and there is no precedent/reason for it being on our shirt. No problem with it being on an England shirt though.

Its irrelevant though as there isn't one on our shirt anyway, just a bit of artistic license from the guy doing the photoshop.

It's not absurd at all.

In Catalonia, the Spanish flag is considered by many to be associated with fascism, so they don't want that associated with the club. Exactly the same reason many City fans don't want a Union Jack or flag of St George on the shirt.

I've got no problem with the England flag, I just don't want it on a City shirt. It never has been, isn't going to be and probably never will be, so I don't really understand why you're even arsed.

We are the champions, champions of England!

No harm having the ship and the three rivers, even the Earl of Lancaster rose (even though we are 53 miles away from Lancaster), and no harm having an England flag on for me neither since we’re in England.

Instead of gold PL badges, I think the English champions should have the England three lions badge on the sleeve instead anyway. Think that’d look class

We are in the Lancashire palatine always have been always will, we are Lancastrian, I am born n bred Manc and Lancastrian and proud of both, politically created governance boundries don't erase that fact Manchester is predominently above the Mersey in Lancashire

As for the St George, debate earlier who cares if it had been on it, we are English champions after all.

We should follow the Italians and have the RAF/Mod target on one sleeve and gold prem badge on the other.

Lastly that home kit looked really good im earlier photos but the newest pic witg darker sleves has make it look crap and losing a maroon away kit to the shite one we are getting is terrible
