Fasting Diet

i can't be arsed with dieting :D love food to much

You hardly need a diet rach anyway.

Youre obviously lucky you have a fast metoblism.

I have to watch what i eat, i gain weiggt fast but seem to lose it just as quick if i have a couple of days not really earing.

Have gone from 20st 4lbs to 18st 8lbs since end of November 2012.

All by just eating more healthy and drinking less. Don't drink on a school night is a must and only drink in moderation on a weekend.

Every month allow yourself a break day where you can literally eat and drink what you want.

I want to take my weight loss further so started going to the gym a lot more often and going to gradually work up my fitness.

I plan to be down to 15st come November.

I lost a stone doing the 5/2 diet which is all I needed to lose so have stopped now.

Might do it for a couple of month before I go on holiday in the summer.

Good work!

I was 18st 7lbs when I started on the 2nd Jan, and now down to 16st 9lbs.

I used to drink a lot of Coke and eat chocolate or sweets most days, so that's all gone. Don't even miss it. Not had a drink or anything since though.

It's amazing how concious I have become of what is in food that I buy, and I cook everything myself now.

My favourite thing at the minute is some frozen mixed berries and some fat free yogurt. Onken do some nice ones.

I started at the beginning of October, when I was about 14st 5lbs. Now down to 13st 1lb. This has been mainly, and latterly, by roughly following the New Abs Diet of 6 (or 5 in my case) meals a day, with only the evening meal as a large one, and a bit of gentle exercise of sit ups, dumbbells and walking. Target weight is 12st, which I want to reach gradually as I don't want flaps of skin hanging off me. Might be difficult to reach the target actually as there is weight in them darn flaps.

I can recommend the book that goes with the diet. It explains what's good for you and what's bad, and why, what diabetes is and how you get it, and lots more.

Times when I lose weight are when I go heavily on the nuts and smoothies. Times when I gain are when I have booze - adds weight in itself and weakens the will to stop eating and drinking.

Well done kiran111 and Weaver99!

I was following this thread just after Xmas and decided to have a go myself after noticing a bit of weight buildig up. I have dropped 21lbs just by eating properly 5 days a week, no crisps, no chocolate no junk what so ever (weekends I eat and drink whatever I want) - it takes a bit of will power at first but I must say its totally worth it, I'm down to 12st now with barely any effort. Really pleased!... I have also stopped drinking bitter!

Be careful how you do this. Initially, I lost 2.3 st in around 40 days following what is known as the Cambridge diet. Then I took a break and unluckily for me, have not been able to successfully restart. One day I would be fasting, the next I would be craving food so much that I would try to justify that I could do this diet again later. Eventually, I regained all the weight I had lost, and on top of that I was told that I had "hyperlipidemia" (high cholesterol) as a result of this uneven dieting (which included junk foods), which is associated with an increased risk of heart disease. Had to go on medication + veg-only diet + exercise to bring my cholesterol back to normal levels. I have once again started losing weight, but it is much slower than the fasting diet, which can be very frustrating because you always do this comparison..

Long story short - Don't do fasting diet for long periods of time (not more than max 3 months), and if you take a break, eat healthy instead of fried foods, followed by exercise to maintain your weight. Uneven dieting may cause health problems..

Note: There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with such diets, just that it is very hard to maintain, and requires a lot of will-power to continue..kudos to those who have managed to stay on this sort of diet..

Having had my body fat percentage in singular figures many times over the years,i have never resorted to a fasting 'diet' in order to attain such.

Coupled with a weights/cardio routine,a balanced diet, eating little and often and based on carb manipulation and timing,is a far healthier and more satisfying regime IMO.

There is no secret other than putting some effort into exercise and consuming slightly less healthy calories than maintenance.

The best and simplest explanations of dieting was given to me by a female who knows dogs backwards...i asked her about the pro's/cons of having my bitch spayed because everyone and thier aunti states they put weight on after the operation...before i'd finished quoting what googles gotta say about it she was already shaking her head. Her bitches did'nt put weight on because she had enough sense to realise that after the op the bitch would'nt be running at 100% primetime but more like 90% of what she was....so she reduced the feed 10% and guess what.....you're onnit are'nt ya. That simple...that said though it does beg the question why males 1 day past thier prime eat meal sizes akin to thier earlier prowess....middle-age spread is a fuckin myth.

Deniro...you need to loose weight and your all chopped up about cyclists....your a bright spark are'nt ya?

I’m on a diet and workout regime currently as I am trying to drop a lot of weight and get fit to join the forces.

Helps me out a lot as I can have a bigger lunch and dinner. I don’t notice that I am dropping weight quicker, but it’s easier to diet cause like I said I can eat more and be full.

Still think 5:2 is fantastic if weight loss and a relatively normal lifestyle is your goal.

I do it as a lifestyle choice now. Just finished my dinner at 6pm and will eat after 10am tomorrow. Last year I lost about 11 kilos in around 3/4 months. Holidayed in the UK for 7 weeks last summer and put about 3kg back on. Since then I've been doing hardly any exercise and having to work at my laptop all day so I've slowly put more on. I'm about 4 kilos less than I was this time last year. As soon as I've finished the work that I need to do and I can get back out and do a bit of exercise in the morning I'll shed the pounds again. Definitely the best way to lose weight for me.

I keep hearing 'diet' has a negative attachment to this design. It's to be regarded as a 'choice' to control when you eat.

When do you do your workout?

Not sure it fits my lifestyle having 2 days off at the weekend and wanting to relax!

Think I need it as a daily solution.
