Yaya says Pep "does not like African players" - Pep says "he's lying and knows it"

It's like you read my mind...

Been a while for bad press since Sterlings Gun Tattoo keep it up media...

So in the past everyone hid behind his agent defending his shit behaviour. Now you want to blame the media rather than the idiot saying the words?

I don't like it, but I'm not going to judge him for it. I'm a white male from a working/middle class background and have very little idea what it's like to be part of a social, cultural or ethnic group which has historically suffered from persecution or discrimination. If someone does belong to one of those groups, it must be very tempting for them to assume that that's the reason they're failing
That's an interesting point. Arguably it might justify Yaya thinking that he has been discriminated against but it absolutely doesn't justify him suggesting it in a public forum. To justify that, he would have to be incredibly certain and even then there would be much better ways of dealing with it than in a media interview. I'm finding it almost impossible not to judge him for these comments, the fact he has plenty of form for going to the press with nonsensical complaints makes me even more judgemental. I'm pretty sure that this will end with a full apology from Yaya, no doubt claiming he was "misquoted" which now seems to be a euphemism for "I didn't think before I spoke".

To be fair, The Guardian's sports coverage is excellent.

I agree and I don’t tend to read it for anything else. I want their articles to
be free of opinion, which this one is, as that’s what I want the news section of any paper to ideally do - report on facts and statements without bias. Opinion on it, I’d expect to be a separate article (and I imagine there will be one incoming at some point)

@Tom_mcfc

I believe what the players say about him not some trashy newspaper jumping at the chance for bad news relating to the club... In the words of vinny...

If anyone is going to be a legend at this Club, it's this man," said Kompany.

"I just want to say thank you to Yaya. Thank you for being a wonderful team-mate both in the dressing room and on the pitch.

Having refelcted on the whole saga now for a couple of days Yaya is still for me a City legend, albeit slightly a tarnsihed one.
My reasoning? Yaya is obviously a very outspoken man at times as we have seen over the years and this incident suggests he has a big problem with pep. Fine, hes not the first footballer to have a problem with his manager. Yes what he said was unsavoury but thats between him and Pep. Pep and Yaya are just 2 more people that will come and go from City and form our history. Each will have made their own mark on our current success. If Yaya launched an attack on manchester City per se then that would be different and his legend status would be in ruins but he hasnt, its a personal issue with one person and im sure Pep can handle it the way he thinks best. Its a sad state of affairs as was the cake incident and the others but ill always recognise what he has done on the pitch which if we are honest has been right at the beart of our club becoming the powerhouse it is today. Id say, Yaya keep your gob shut in future and your still a legend for what youve done for us on the pitch.

Absolutely loved Yaya Toure as a player, although it was clear to see he was on the wane ever since the 2013/14 season ended.

For me he will always be a playing legend, though these recent comments, if true, have tarnished his status a little for me.

I'm a little disturbed by the number of posters on here who seemingly were just waiting for an opportunity to "stick the boot" in where Yaya is concerned, I know I wouldn't want to be in the trenches with these so called supporters.

Toure has taken legendary status which initially was totally deserved ,and left City with a bitter. tirade at the manager. He has without doubt tried to use us "THE BEAUTIFUL FANS" in an attempt to side with him in this However this time there is no vindictive agent to blame or communication error This one is down to YAYA He left Barca loathing PEP and despite the act by both peace just wasnt possible both have said kind things about each other but it was a façade YAYA cannot be dismissed from our history. but for last 2-3 seasons he has pocketed a kings ransom for very little Yep perhaps he could have been trusted more ,but his career at City was over well before PEP turned up. He was already treading water and the long mazy runs were just fond memories he infact had become lazy a passenger who cannot be bitter with the boss. who allowed him two years of wages for not working
