What does a random on twitter add to the news of this transfer?

Lemina is a top top talent, but the question mark over him is how much he has between the ears: ie. Is he what we need intelligence wise, in positionin and vision etc. But I bet pep would make him something special.

Kovacic is a weird one, he plays like modric but he covers a lot of ground.

The alternatives are strange, seems like 3 completely different players to be honest.

Lemina would probably be 35-40 million
Kovacic would be over 60 for sure

Kovacic has a 50m euros euro release clause ...so dealing with Madrid will be simpler than Napoli I think if kovacic is Keen

At £60m it's deal off definitely and Kovacic is near impossible so yeah could be a long summer for CM/DM

They may be planning for him to be a replacement for Modric down the road. Has his work cut out for him to reach that level though.

Kovacic is an excellent player, he will replace Modric for Real Madrid as long as he keeps up his current level he won't look out of place either.

He's apparently got a €50m release clause which would be an amazing pick up, but he's not a like for like replacement for Jorginho.

IMO he would make more sense as a replacement for Gundogan or Fernandinho next summer, as I see him as somewhere between the two.

Hmmm. Kovacic is the better player but in all honesty he may not be what we need. Very good dribbled, often bursts through midfield. Runs a fair but but not very fast. A more mobile Gundogan I suppose would be a good description.

Wouldn't mind him here but he's a completely different style of player, combative little fucker with a good engine and an eye for a pass but nowhere near Jorginho's speed of thought and range of passing. More of a Vidal/Modric cross than an Alonso/Busquets style player (which Jorginho would be). If Napoli really are taking the piss and he's available at that price and wants to come it's not the worst idea. Jorginho will be a lot cheaper next summer, he doesn't suit Ancelotti's style at all.

Interesting angle. Going for Kova right now and then Jorginho next summer (assuming Dinho get's moved on at 34) does sound like a financially better option.

Milner and Henderson played in a CL final so I doubt that participation would be good metric to determine who is a world class CDM. He is clearly a subpar player for our level considering Juventus gladly got rid of him.

Kovacic is not a 'regista' in the way Jorginho is, he can play as DM but would be a Dinho/Fred/Ndombele-like solition- very athletic, covers a lot of ground and can dribble through the middle (Bluemoon would love him). Can see him being a successful Silva replacement though, he's a 'number 8' first and foremost.

Doubt that he's the type of DM Pep wants to see in the team, Jorginho is a FAR better passer/controller.

Anyway, this info was deliberately leaked by City to put pressure on ADL, don't think they are actual targets.
