Riyad Mahrez

I would argue that this would be the most established player we’ve signed since the takeover. Aguero was great but still young, Silva was also good but hadn’t really won anything yet and that Ivorian guy was a Barca reject. Mahrez will become the only former PFA POTY in our squad and has won the league already.

Bravo's Cv is not to be sniffed at

Signing Sterling. You know you’re finally dining at the top table, when a player, they desperately wanted to keep, dares to leave the RD’s, stating that he’s coming to City because he feels, rightly so last season, that we are more equipped to win things.

Sterling left Liverpool because they were taking the piss. Coming to us giving the opportunity to win stuff was secondary.

And the bitter history-obsessed scousers have never forgiven him or us.

I doubt Leicester will be as bitter despite having won the title much more recently than Liverpool.

I don't think Sterling was even born when Liverpool last won the league, not sure Mahrez was either! But their Scandanavian loyals and drug-fuelled tracksuit-clad scallies keep dreaming it'll be their year.

But isn't that what Milner said when he went the other way?

Would you not consider double figures for assists and goals something special?

I didn't know he had double figures for assists and goals with us yet? Like I said, I think he'll be decent but not 'a sensation'.

That’s such a lazy argument. So by that logic, because messi and Ronaldo haven’t had double assists and goals FOR US yet, they also wouldn’t be sensational?

Come off it mate

All transfers are a gamble.

Mahrez might not work out. It's stretching the imagination a bit, in a negative way, to think he won't though, if we think logically, surely ? There is no obvious reason for it.

The most realistic question, imo, would surely be whether he's good, absolutely briilant, fucking awesome or all 3 plus p.o.t.y ( which would mean twice as good as the nearest rag or scouser).

That's a load of rubbish coming from someone who effectively never saw him play.

Riyad has a laid back attitude often mistaken as laziness. He had a verbal agreement with the club and we held on him because it was too late in the window. He snapped out but when he came back, he still gave his all. He goes missing in some games which happen to every players but no one can accuse him of downing the tools which was quite the common accusation when Ranieri was sacked.

Oh and you can't be on the double figures goals/assists in a team like ours by being out of shape.

The first paragraph? I’ve seen him play well, no I don’t watch every game. But was I attacking his talent or on field displays? He is not an in shape athelete in my opinion. I feel there is a certain standard that pro athletes should maintain. But this is again my opinion. Vardy and him are the focal points for their team now. That might be why his stats are so good. If he had to compete for ball touches versus our front guys his stats might go down but they might go up too, this is yet to be determined. It’s a squad builder buy I can see the perks but just not stoked or a fan.

Does Messi look like a pro athlete and meet your athletic standard. Would you pick him out of 100 players as the best in the world , possibly ever? Just need to see him run at defenders to know he gives us something we havent got.

So you think either Pep will allow txiki (for whatever reason) to make a 60 mil signing lacking in fitness, or such a player to sign, then not put in the work to reach the required fitness level ?

Or indeed that Mahrez will, having got his dream move, not put the required effort in ? Or that City have not considered this beforehand ?

Not impossible of course, but seriously: is it likely ?

Yes, Messi is in amazing shape.

Yes of course these guys know more than I do, obliviously they are getting paid to do it. But yes on every transfer I think they take gambles. And as much as Pep did changed our teams diet and fitness standards maybe they feel they can improve it.

To both of you, yes I’m being spoiled.

When Mahrez was first linked to City, ages ago I went "nah, must be bollocks, doesn't work hard enough without the ball".

The fact we actually want him, & that he isn't some Neymar sized star, who can do what the fuck he wants, even under Pep, prettty much wipes away my doubts.

I don't think Pep would sign this player unless he was convinced he will run like everyone else.

It's the single most important point Pep made recently on Sky " If they don't run, they don't play".
