seems this might be back on? rescinded his contract with sporting and his agent denies deal with benfica. city apparently considering 'goodwill' fee to sporting?

Assuming Lukas Nmecha is not quite good enough for us (which seems to be the general consensus, although personally I really like him), there is an obvious gap on the fringe of the first team for an u18/u21 level striker. When (not if) Aguero or Jesus get injured, we are down to 1 striker and having a Foden type prospect would be pretty handy.

The fact he's getting called their best prospect since Ronaldo means very little considering how often players get overhyped at that age, but I guess it's better than nothing.

Won't give forceful reasons to justify his signing but nothing harmful in signing him for next to nothing fee

One of the players who resigned for being beaten up. Interesting to see that City are willing to pay a fee but nothing like the €45 or €60m release clause stated in various newspaper articles.

It may have been mentioned, apologies if yes.
If he signed this summer could he be classed as home grown?

Too late for him to be classed as home grown. From memory a player has to be at an English club for three full years before they turn 21 and I think he's 19 now.

Doesn't sound like City thing to do.

Therefore I don't think it will happen that we sign a player for free.

Guess its just to put pressure on Leicester/Mahrez. We wouldnt sign a very good talent for free. If he would cost us 40m maybe but for free or for some "friendly fee" no.
:D

Is he really that good? 11 goals in 43 youth international games isn't exactly tearing up trees for a striker, and he's 6ft2 according so how many of those came from physicality for his age group? Yes, shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia but it's hardly numbers that grab your attention. Phil Foden has 14 in 34 and he's a midfielder.

Another one is Pellegri who's gone to Monaco for £25mil. 2 goals in 29 youth international appearances. How are they getting these figures?

I guess there's more to top level scouting than reading wikipedia pages? Monaco seem to know what they're doing, they've only brought in €500m flipping players in the last 3 years.

Considering we were linked with him in January then it's certainly worth a punt. Only issue is says numbers. Wouldn't we need more english players to accommodate for another foreign player?

We already have the maximum number of homegrown players (4).

No we would need to lose a foreign player if we wanted to include him in the C/L squad. Adding more home grown wouldn't help. That said at 18 he could probably either be left out of the c/l squad or I'd think more likely be loaned for a season. I don't think he would come in instead of Mahrez.
