The ultimate Hollywood keeper who basically only makes saves for the cameras. Just look at the way he saves anything to his left.
Grossly overrated
Add to the mix his poor distribution and as you pointed out, overrated.

He’s incredibly lucky, 9 out of ten shots go straight at him like you said.I’ve always said De Gea only saves thing hit straight at him.
Today he proved me wrong. He managed to avoid getting in the way.
How is it I immediately thought of David Silva's 5th goal in a well-known match, where De Gea was pounding the floor in frustration?I've always thought almost the opposite. He seems to get nutmegged consistently or fumbles it if it is near a legs. One of the most common sights is him sat on the floor punching it after someone rolls the ball through his legs.

He makes the harder saves to be fair, as non deluded blues have pointed out some shots straight at you are sometimes the hardest. I like the questioning of him as a goalkeeper though it is pretty funny. Not biased in the slightest. One of the best in the world but I would rather have Ederson for how we play.
The problem with De Gea is he makes some great goal line reaction saves that get massively overrated both statistically and subjectively.
Oblak, Neuer and probably ter Stegen are vastly superior all round goalkeepers, he doesn't deserve to be mentioned alongside them.

Some are overrated, not all. His performance at Arsenal away last year was on par with that special night from Weaver when we played i think Ipswich at home!
It's a game of opinions and I wouldn't expect many blues especially on this forum accept and acknowledge his talent. A class save is a class save regardless if Martin Tyler is screaming it home. All round goalkeepers being mentioned now, as a shot stopper he is the best. Like I mentioned before though I'd rather Ederson for his other attributes along with being a handy shot stopper too.
No he's not the best shot stopper, he's maybe the best at reaction saves.
It's an important distinction because from mid- to long range shots De Gea makes plenty of errors. See Spain-Portugal for example.
Now would anyone in their right mind at a top club choose a keeper who's excellent inside 10 yards but has massive weaknesses elsewhere? No, which is why he's still at United when it was clear he wanted away for a long time.
A bit harsh on Shay. He's generally a decent shot stopper and pulls off some spectacular saves (One against Southampton comes to mind) but as an all round keeper, he has relatively poor command of his area, doesnt particularly like coming off his line, either for crosses or to beat a striker to a through ball and his distribution is awful. This is all compared to the world's best keepers, in terms of the Premier League he still justifies playing for a top half side, but he's nowhere near as good as he's hyped up to be.
He's basically Shay Given with better marketing.
Massive weaknesses? What crazy wording. You are also aware Real Madrid, one of the best teams in the world were seconds away from signing him? If it fell through for anything their end do you think it was because last second they went oh he isn't as good as we think actually? No chance.
Having a very quick look he made 3.58 saves per every goal whereas Ederson only had 2.17 saves per goal. As I said I would rather Ederson for us but it is beyond delusional to think he isn't a fantastic shot stopper. For every Ronaldo goal in this world club there are many examples of class saves from shots outside the area. That stat puts to bed that he is good because United are defensive too, he still faces a lot of shots because no matter how defensive they go their defence still isn't great.
This is why people like you can't be taken seriously.
Saves per goal would dictate that Nick Pope and Lukasz Fabianski are the 2 best goalkeepers in the league. Either you believe that, or you've got no business trying to use it as a measure of ranking goalkeepers.
That stat proves that isn't the case as he saves more shots before he lets one in.
said he has MASSIVE weaknesses
No it doesn't. Read my comment.
Or do you think it's just a massive coincidence that keepers playing for teams with 10 behind the ball all have the best saves per goal stats? Judging by your comments so far it wouldn't surprise me to be fair.
Yes, I'd classify a fear of coming for crosses costing United 10 league goals a season as a massive weakness. What would you call a weakness that costs you 10 goals, minor?
