Played very well. I want him to have a great tournament and return to City full of confidence so he can find the form he had before he got injured.

Thought he was excellent last night.

Calm, cool, played it simple, read their counter-attacks very well.

Top man

You can't take the boy out of Barnsley as we keep getting reminded, he has the potential to be world class think we will see it this season

2 Goals
5 Clearances
106 Touches
96 Passes
97% Pass Accuracy

If this had been done by Messi, or Iniesta, or Pogba, we would all be watching the media slurping their juices.

Stones? Well, he looks like he might be a “weak link” in an attacking looking team! Hahaha! English media, eh?!

And, yes, you read that correctly...of his 106 touches, 93 of them were accurate passes to team mates and 5 of them were clearances. Unbelievable performance, but Harry Kane gets 2 pens and a deflected goal and he is all anyone cares about!

It's funny that his confidence seems to translate into his ability at set pieces.

At the beginning of the season when he was defending brilliantly, he was a constant threat at corners and got those 3 Champions League goals by November, then when his form dropped off he just wasn't attacking the ball well at the other end either.

Now at the world cup he seems to be pretty comfortable and he's scored 2 and set up Kane's first against Tunisia.

Having a brilliant world cup and looks back to his best.

Also can tell he's hit the gym which he really needed to do to add strength to his game.

When he's confident he looks like a very strong player, he was the same in September/October last year, but when his confidence goes he gets caught in two minds and you can't really be strong when you're questioning what you're doing.

Its really good to see him back to his best though and doing it for England too because as long as players don't perform for England as well as City, they have to rebuild every 6 weeks after an international break.

Thought he was great. Constantly made tight passes look easy, only remember one poor one at the end that went for a throw-in. Defended well alongside that, glad for him.

Has been majestic all tournament.

Unsurprisingly made the most forward passes of any defender at the World Cup
