Jorginho

Anyone see a World Cup player that they think is a better Fernandinho alternative?

It would seem we've been linked to 4 DM's since Jan....Fred, Jorginho, Seri and Kovacic......reportedly we have 3 players for every position that we target in the transfer market so if we are going to sign one, its likely going to come from this list. The only player that seems to fit(if Jorginho goes to Chelsea) if this is all about value and getting the most for our money, is Seri as his release clause is around 35mil but on the 15th July, that release clause is no longer valid so we better move quickly!;) Real Madrid president said in Nov that Kovacic will never be sold and is important to them, so that could be a difficult deal to do but again, nothing stopping other big teams offering more than us as it would seem we dont do bidding wars....

Jorginho has the passing range though that would fit in well with our team? Taking these reports with a pinch of salt though as they are known to chat shit

Signing players off the back off good international tournaments is the closest thing in football to pissing your money away, the list is endless who could forget pretty much the whole Greek team that got big transfers based on winning the European Championship only to be back in Greece almost to a man 18months later, Poborský, Alexi Lalas, Tarantini, Villa(OK perhaps not the best example for City supporters but the point still stands he was shit), Kleberson the list is endless

I'd like us to sign him as he's a quality player but if we don't, I'm sure we'll bring in another player of similar quality. Missing out on him wouldn't bother me nearly as much as missing out on Mahrez.

Before we were linked with Jorginho there wasn't an outpouring on here for his signature.
Now we might walk away he's become the greatest DM on the planet.
This is not the Man City of the past, if needed we will find a replacement and he will be coached to a higher standard than Jorginho.
Stop flapping.

A bit of a fuck up to be honest if we lose out now after spending months on it? It’s the most important position we need to strengthen this summer!!

I see DM as a bigger priority than Mahrez.....will love that signing when it happens as Mahrez is world class and gives us flexibility upfront but for me, this position is alot bigger need in the short and long term and it's the first position Pep mentioned when asked about our summer transfers after the season finished. Always preferred Fred to Jorginho so wouldnt be too disappointed but its a position we still need to fill before the season....The important thing is we still have time to sort this but we reportedly went after Jorginho as he had no World cup duty and would be here for pre-season. Either way, interesting few days ahead......glad when the season is here!;)

Its always a mess when rivals outbid us for a player destined for us and we all get frustrated even though we REALLY havent seen the player in-depth (bar Sanchez).

I think we should be happy moving on and trust the process and let the other players know that we are not be played with when it comes to negotiations. end of.

Ok, should have said “rumoured to be imminent”. But the fact remains that the club have seemingly been working on this for months.

I’m rumoured to have a 10” cock doesn’t mean it’s true

Edit: I might have actually started the rumour

Seems our itks have disappeared as well?

We don’t have any ITKs anyway. Its people like you constantly asking these 'ITKs' for info they don’t have, so, they make up this bullsh*t to make people like you happy. When will you learn? ha!

My thoughts on this deal are relaxed. I don’t see the huge issue if we don’t sign him. Fernandinho and Gundogan can both play the role depending on the opposition so it’s not the end of the world if the deal isn’t completed for me. I'd be much more gutted if the Mahrez deal didn’t come off as I think he will be great for us.

Let's just give Lyon or Ajax a blank check for either Ndombele or De Jong (if this goes to shit).

Problem is mate....top players are likely to have many options and "if" we do have a hardline that we not willing to cross in negotiations, it kinda makes it easy for top teams to muscle us out of the way..I agree we cant pay "whatever it takes" as a general rule but the club picked Jorginho and spent the last 6 months working on this deal for a reason....I'm not Jorginho's biggest fan but the club must believe he's the perfect fit and in those cases I would hope we would be flexible enough to step up to the plate, trust our scouting team and get it over the line....which we still might do as last time I checked he not holding up a Chelsea shirt just yet!;)
