Jorginho

The finger of blame lies at Citys end if they agreed the deal and didnt tie it up That being the case Chelsea wouldnt have a sniff
Didn't tie it up? That was at the Napoli end. If they'd formally agreed to the offer and Jorginho had accepted personal terms (even by email) we'd have had a legal contract and they couldn't have accepted the offer from Chelsea.

I think because last season we had a plan to bring in a number of players whereas this summer it’s clear we seem to have been only in for two and these were the two players identified to move us on again
We've got one and I'm sure we'll bring in a player for the position jorginho was earmarked for....it's not like he's the only player in the world is it? I won't be losing any sleep over it if he decides to go to Chelsea.

The posters who are claiming we fucked up are really naive, these are huge complex deals for vast amounts of money and involve a degree of trust to get it over the line,it's the same posters every summer, really gets on my nerves

Karen,

I dont think we fucked up but we need to stop talking about these transfers as if they are so complex its makes them almost impossible to do. Our negotiating team are experienced and know what they need to do and get paid big salaries to get it right. Reportedly it only took Juve 2 weeks to complete one of the most complex deals this window (Ronaldo and all his image rights must have been a nightmare but they made easy work of it) This has nothing to do with complex, as reportedly, most of the work had already been done....

We take a hardline with transfers these days and have a new approach where we no longer push-overs and that means we'll get outbid alot more often than we use to. In my opinion, the brief yesterday was the only strange thing that didnt make sense to me, as there was enough evidence on the net to show he was clearly saying goodbye to Napoli and heading off for a new start but we seemed oblivious to the fact any other team was involved(i.e Chelsea)....It made the club look out of touch with what was really going on and that was my only issue.

I'm not going to slag the club off for missing out on another midfielder and more interested to see what there next plan is, as I trust this club to move quickly to fill this need. The speed they moved on from Alves last summer was first class and they deserved alot of credit for that....I trust they will do the same after missing out on Jorginho.

Because each season is a new one and we're very thin in the position he would be covering? Also Fernandinho is 33, played a ton of games last season, and looked gash this world cup?
Plenty more players out there for that position I wouldn't worry about it. Doesn't matter if fernandinho was gash for Brazil (bit harsh as he didn't get much playing time)....he's not for us and that's all that matters.

It might be warranted but how on earth can constructive criticism be offered when no one knows what has happened behind the scenes?
Nice sentiment but it will simply be Txiki bashing again
Ive never criticised Txiki but i do have concerns if our policy is to have a price and walk away if we are outbid. Some players are worth paying extra for. Yes noone on here truly knows but im going on all the collective evidence thus far. If we lose out to Chelsea for a few million is it wise if that player was our no.1 target?
The money talked about is actually quite reasonable in todays market. Im still hoping he comes but its looking unlikely.
(Ive used paragraphs this time albeit this isnt an exercise in literary competence)

How do you know it only took 2 weeks?
Again you have posted that we are made to look out of touch - with what knowledge are you basing that?

Yep, same ones. That fella who posts shit off Twitter every 5 mins does my head in.

You mean TrueBlueNo1?....yes, he does my head in as well mate. I'd use the ignore button if I was you, as he's not going to stop saying what he thinks..cheers

Im not saying you were mate but to say Constructive Criticism is warranted is fine, but surely, you can only do that when the facts are known and IMO, no one on here is close enough to know, hence my comment, the only criticism that will be offered is through ignorance and generally relates to Txiki bashing

Agreed on all of that actually, but the fact is he's a year older and expecting him to duplicate his efforts form last year would be pretty unrealistic. Add the world cup nonsense on top of that, which had a big effect on him last time, and it's plain to see we need some reinforcements in that position
No he is3 months older than last time he played for City, and he looked pretty fucking good 3 months ago

Fair enough mate, yes there are those who criticise Txiki too quickly on here admittedly. The hard line we take on transfers these days I admire, but sometimes flexibility is needed to get the player if he's deemed important.

Someone has a ticket for a Final and then promises it to another poster on here, even building a rapport on PM, agreeing the price.

How is the intended recipient culpable when some turd reneges at the last knockings and decides it is easier to sell it to someone else who lives around the corner for £50 more?

It's a scumbag trick and City have absolutely no reason to be held accountable if Jorginho and his agent have strung us along.
