No matter how you sugar coat it i am sure we had the player who we wanted and needed in place two weeks ago the needling thing is then, we were first in a one horse race but we allowed the player to go on his jollies without concluding the deal. SOUND FAMILAR So those fans who are a tad pissed off with this have every right to be. He was our no1 target

Remember when you posted this in the Sanchez thread last August? I'd hoped you would've learnt your lesson from that...

I am pleased for Raheem for his last two goals but if the idea of using him to help out if Aguero or Jesus are injured to be the man to go to for goals makes the guy who plans this almost as bad as the one who let the back up go without MAKING DAMN SURE a replacement was on his way If this is not sorted in this window then we will be lucky to get top 4 never mind the title

Look what happened when Sanchez got lured by the red mardarses, our season imploded, it derailed us And pep was left with egg on his chin.

If I did that I'd be getting a PM about not digging up old posts to embarrass people :/

Matt Law story in the Telegraph:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/07/12/antonio-conte-sacked-chelsea/
All references to Jorginho are wrapped in COULD statements.
Clearly, nothing has been agreed yet. Matt Law would have said it was a done deal - he would also have said if there had been a medical.
Equally - except from Kiss kiss Radio in Naples there is nothing to indicate he has rejected a move to Chelsea either.
Dude is tier 1 for chelsea, if he'd had a medical for them wouldn't he have known about it?

Been reading with interest this whole saga on here. If we do lose Jouginhio to Chelsea im afraid questions do need to be asked of our strategy and constructive criticism is warranted. Jouginhio was obviously Peps no.1 target for a critical position in the side yet if indeed we allow him to go to Chelsea because we wont up our bid to beat off Chelsea then its a flawed policy. Firstly it doesnt exactly show the player we are after that we are totally commited to buying him and secondly, we will end up losing out on a lot of transfer targets. We're now after elite players, its likely other clubs will be interested in such players because there are so few around, so to have a price and refuse to go above it if we are out bid is either foolish or arrogant or both. For the sake of a few milion if he really is the player Pep wants then we should outbid Chelsea for a player that could be at City for years to come and be integral to future success. Unless of course it gets silly then yes, we wαlk away. We are not the club needing to pay massive fees and wages of ten years ago, we are now an attractiive club for elite players on footballing merit alone, doesnt mean we can cherry pick who we want and expect to only pay what we deem fair. Hopefully we still get him, but it seems unlikely now. Id imagine Peps not too happy either if we dont.

Why do people assume we were in a position to "allow" a player which wasn't ours to begin with to do anything? Including going on holiday and speaking to other clubs? I don't think we could and if anyone thinks the best thing to do is appear desperate in our actions by doubling our bid and his wages then you're mad(desperate is never a good look with all things in life).

As far as I see it, if the player had a verbal agreement with the club and has gone back on that, bearing in mind he knew there was a strong possibility his current coach will end up at Chelsea(probably had discussions about the possibility of joining him too) then lets stop making excuses for him if that turns out to be the case. That's faffing us about and not sticking to his word however you want to spin it but how angry can we really be at the player or anyone on our side the negotiations? This is a normal occurrence in football when you are in for the top players, lets learn to deal with it better as fans.

We wont always get what we want, stop looking for someone to hang out to dry, stop thinking pay more is the answer too after we've already agreed a price, that just makes the club look weak in negotiations and that's when more agents and clubs start taking the piss.

I keep hearing London is more attractive, is it balls... it's crap down there I've been, airs fresher up here too. :) Seriously though it will be his relationship with Sarri if anything has swayed it. It's not being arrogant to think we are in a better position to attract players than Chelsea right now because we are.

I reckon he got annoyed as we kept spelling his name wrong and forgetting to use paragraphs.

My take on the Jorginho saga: as long as BBC or Skysports doesn't announce anything or even mentioning "Jorginho" and "medical" in the same sentence, we're good. There's been so many rumours around this guy for so long. Nothing is correct. I really hope he goes to City. He has praised Pep as a global icon and they had a deal a few weeks ago. Why would he suddenly go to Chelsea? Also, I used google translate for an article in italian calcio 24, in which Jorginho says goodbye and salute Sarri. Why would he do that if he were to join him at Chelsea? ah what a mess this is...

Clutching at straws I'm afraid to say. I agree with the 'lets wait till its on BBC' before its an official announcement. But there seem to be too many different outlets saying/suggesting the same thing about Jorginho ending up at Chelski, similar to the media frenzy rumour mill when it was suggested Ronaldo will be heading to Juve. Admittedly, they maybe all quoting a single source in same way or form.

I personally think the Pep global icon thing is a massive agent card often used to gain interest. When it comes down to it as we've seen with Sanchez etc it all comes down to money and players looking after their best interests rather than playing for someone they admired. Which shouldn't be too much of a surprise in this 'me first society'. To an extent the same also applies for why would he go to Chelsea they've got no Chumps League football this year argument. Jorginho was playing CL football for the past few seasons & it really didn't do him any favours struggling to get in the national side. I also remember the same argument made when Pogba was on the market and people suggesting why would he go to United when they had no CL football for that particular season - he still went.

The Italian excerpt you referenced actually goes along the lines of Jorginho saying goodbye to Napoli & someone saying say hello to Sarri from them. Take from that what you will.

Total .... if a player wants to follow his manager not much you can do about it. Yes we could have outbid Chelsea but there was nothing to say we could have agreed terms. Can't blame City. That's life. As I said earlier if a player prefers Chelsea and Larndan and Sarri not a lot you can do about it. Move on.

It might be warranted but how on earth can constructive criticism be offered when no one knows what has happened behind the scenes?
Nice sentiment but it will simply be Txiki bashing again

He got tons of abuse from ducks who know fuck all about the game cos a ball went into the net off his shoulder. There are too many dick heads in the world. Fern back in May was finishing a100 point season off as our central midfield box to box god, that’s the true story, not the “gash World Cup” bollocks
Agreed on all of that actually, but the fact is he's a year older and expecting him to duplicate his efforts form last year would be pretty unrealistic. Add the world cup nonsense on top of that, which had a big effect on him last time, and it's plain to see we need some reinforcements in that position

None of this could have happened without the agent and the player double crossing City. Clearly played us.
