Jorginho

No doubt, although we were very clear with Sanchez that we didn't care where he went to if he wasn't prepared to wait until this summer to come to City.

As is the fact we line up three or four different options for when things such as this happen in football.

Who are these three or four options then?

Agree, but at a certain point it is your fault if you allow yourself to be strung along by a less than trustworthy counterparty. These things happen obviously but hindsight would suggest we made an error but not either closing the deal when we were close weeks ago or moving on.

You can only close the deal when all parties are in agreement, do you think everything was in place and City said we will just leave it a few more weeks.

6pm - Hospitals now closed to day patients and still no reliable UK published account of any Chelski Jorginho medical.
Just saying like.

Controversial, I know, but I would give United their money back right now for Pogba if I thought they would sell to us?

His lateral movement and long passing is excellent, he could really take to the role with Pep teaching him some things.

In addition to his height and physicality, he has shown at the World Cup in a proper team shape that he is a top player.

Offered to us in January don't forget.

Milinkovic-Savic is incredibly, uncannily, similar to Pogba, without the problem of being a United player and without 2 years festering under Mourinho. Had a disappointing world cup with the rest of the serbian team so might be cheaper than he was billed before when the epectation was he'd be a break out.

Strange one this... we've clearly agreed terms with player and maybe even Napoli but Chelsea going after Sarri and gazumping the fee has obviously done it.

I know people seem to be taking the stance, that we wouldn't match the fee, or that Napoli were bluffing, but I think hey said to Chelsea it's both or none.

I might not have allowed them to delay so long before walking away but thats where we all share different opinions....There was alot of reports a number of weeks ago saying we had given Napoli a deadline, as they seemed to be dragging their feet. I'm hoping that was enough for us to start reaching out to other options during these last few weeks, just in case......hopefully we'll start hearing new names over the next few days. Frustrating, but thats life...now time to move on!

And, pray tell, how do you stop someone stringing you along? Walk away?

You set a reasonable deadline to reach an agreement, then you legalize it. If the deal falls apart, it wouldn't have gotten done anyway but you've just saved yourself a month or work and don't have to watch other options go elsewhere.

So what would you do never buy a player from Napoli or Spurs because you know the people you have to deal with are untrustworthy. From what I have read it would appear that City had been advised that they had a deal but that Napoli dragged their feet presumably they knew Sarri was going and he told them he would want Jorginho if he went to Chelsea. City are led to believe the deal was all sorted and then they get told he is going to Chelsea I am not sure what City could have done

There are so many parties involved in these deals agents of players agents of managers Chairmen I am sure City are producing a list of persona non grata who they will only deal with when they have to

The great news is that no matter who City buy I am utterly convinced that they I’ll improve under Pep and I am sure that Pep would only want players who are convinced of their abilities and are prepared to fight to be in the team

More Plan C if you factor in our initial interest in Fred to be honest.

(To be clear to anyone taking issue with that, I'm not bothered if it's Plan Z when we make the signing as long as they're effective.)

I actually have an issue with it as its a lie. We wanted Fred in January because Jorginho wasn't available.

This is a genuine reply mate as respect your view....in the example you mention, I'd pay the man and get my ticket as soon as all agreed....wouldnt give him the chance to think I wasnt fully committed or leave it up to chance that someone else might be interested in that same ticket. Wouldnt you want to question why he was delaying the transaction when you had already agreed to pay want he asked for?

Of course, but life sometimes doesn't work like that.

Perhaps the seller can't sell at the soonest opportunity (Napoli finding a replacement for Jorginho as an example)

Perhaps you are so desperate to get your hands on this ticket and you are prepared to wait until the last minute to have it?

So this is a subtle way of saying that Jorginho is in fact going to Chelsea then tolm?

Napoli are huuuge cheapskates. No way they would say both or none of them. Having already Signed Ancelotti and keeping Sarri would be too Much of a risk!

As you say, I dont blame the club but hopefully the alarm bells started when Napoli had signed his replacement but were still not willing to complete....Hopefully we've already used the delay to start reaching out to other agents/players, as we cant expect Fern to play so many games again and on the back of a WC. cheers mate

Not at all, nothing would surprise me to see him still sign for City.

If nothing else, I can't believe even our PR department would try and blag it by briefing the Chelsea interest is a ruse.

Especially so, when they didn't really have to provide any real comment without establishing the facts of reports from Italy.

Still think something doesn't smell right here, someone is lying.
