It does seem a bit odd that we were willing to pay 50m for Sterling three years ago, 50m for Stones two years ago, 57m for Laporte in January but we weren't willing to pay 58m for Jorginho, a player who Pep clearly likes, who wanted to come here and for a position we need to strengthen in. I understand the principle of only signing players who are 100% committed to City but it could see us lose out on a lot of key targets as we've already witnessed with Alves, Sanchez and now Jorginho. It's admirable but is it realistic?
Having said that, I'm confident that Pep and the club will have a plan. Whether that's an alternative to Jorginho or being creative with the players we already have.
