Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

I think you are probably right unless he is fed up about the negative press and decides life abroad on a reduced package is worth it to him and his family.
Nah. He’s not the sort, nor is he technically superior enough to cut it anywhere he would want to go.

He is the roughest diamond in the cabinet full of sparklers. He should accept his mere £10M per year, plus bonuses, plus endorsements, plus being able to stay home and see his Mum, etc... as winning the fucking lottery of life that it is for a lad who apparently couldn’t do any other job that would earn him half his weekly pay packet in a year! Just sayin’

No arguments from me

IMO he needs the exorbitant wages we give him more than we need him.
Was a wet blanket at the World Cup but will hopefully shine in the PL this year. He still has absolute shocking decision making at times, I thought he would have sorted that by now.
His blistering pace is scary, just wish he were more clinical.

If someone is prepared to pay him significantly more than us then of course he will consider it. Top top player who clearly backs himself 1000 percent.

With his blistering pace and skill he should be having the same effect as MBappe has for France, I just dont know why he gets tangled up with the ball so often, just when you think he's gonna do something really special, he seems to lose possession.

He does a good job at City of course scoring a lot of goals and getting into those positions, Im actually thinking though he may be on the bench a lot when Mahrez gets going.

Maybe, who knows, but he may also push Sané out, again who knows.

Sterling's ability to play in tight spaces is integral to us breaking down packed defences, his role in this side is underestimated by many.

Exactly this. He has a very rare skill set.

Who cares what City pay him as long as he stays with us, not like it’s coming out of the haters pockets is it?
Sterling is a quality player and he will improve season on season. Those saying he’s not worth this or that should look at the salaries of some PL players who couldnt lace his boots...

See this is the thing, all about opinions,so why so many negative comments against fellow supporters when they have an opinion against Sterling is fucking bizarre

You have just said it could be Sane,so will there be an outcry because you have said that ? Doubt it neither, but try and say Sterling could be the one to make way a bit and all hell breaks loose on here

Pep seems to be able to bring out the best in players in his squad - Sterling is just one example. Continue where he left off last season and Sterling is a phenomenal, undervalued gem, and should start in our first 11 most games.

Where's all these bids from from the spanish giants that were in the offing according to early posts in this thread? His finishing will ensure he remains a good player never a great one. Annoyingly ruined a once in a lifetime chance to humiliate the rags. That opportunity will never come again im afraid.

Maybe it's the way it's said?

I'm not sure you can blame him for that, they all went to sleep in the 2nd half, yes he missed chances but no-one scored the decider either.he is what he is but is nowhere near his prime yet,pep improved him a lot last season and it's down to them both to put the work in to get him better still

I think some City fans are (understandably) more defensive and protective of Sterling because of the reprehensible way he is reported on in the media, the disgraceful way Liverpool stiffs talk(ed) about him after he left, and the moronic way that fans of other clubs (even Arsenal ffs) booed him for having the temerity to leave Liverpool to improve himself. It’s just football fans looking after their own, which means a sense of proportionality can go out of the window.

Pep has done brilliantly to get what he has from him. His finishing is still as poor as ever though, I honestly can't see that ever changing.

It's not as poor as ever as it was much better than the season before, someone put up numbers from strikers and everyone misses a lot,he is a winger not a striker, playing him as a striker doesn't make him one.he has to improve no doubt but i don't understand why he gets so much grief

Its the sitters that he misses

Its the chances he misses that drive everyone (including Pep) mad.

+1
If Sterling has the opportunity to pass rather than shoot he'll pass - often very effectively - but one-on-one with an opposing keeper... Sterling is often nervous and just can't seem to be clinical. Pep has helped him in this regard... building his confidence.

Hopefully Pep can continue to stoke Sterling's confidence - hell, if only he'd improve his finishing, he'd be Balon Dior material - as is, he's an asset to our side.

as we have obviously seen recently he benefits from being in this team. Someone done a comparison to how Pedro was at barca in a pep team and how he benefited from that. I think the same is with Sterling, his movement makes him shine in this team. His finishing is dreadful, throw enough shit some of it will stick. If you’re gifted 3/4 chances a game you’ll score. Don’t then start with missed chances stats that no one knows how they work them out. He will score a good amount of goals next season again unless Mahrez keeps him out of the team, couldn’t get more opposite players.
