US block 3D guns for now...

Pretty sure when these were reported on a while back it was more likley to blow your fingers off than shoot a bullet as plastic isn't strong enough to be a gun.

Still good enough to get someone in really close if undetectable

The fuckin idiots published the plans to make an assault rifle.
What kind of special prick thinks this info should be freely available? Fuckin jeez.....

That's the bigger concern - getting through xray machines.

I think it's quite likely that most plastics wouldn't take the heat (and a second shot would be very difficult), but equally I suspect there may be the odd one that can take hte heat and/or some clever workaround.

Exactly, and it would only take a 22, not really enough to do much damage to the shooter but aimed in an ear, job done. I guess the difficulty would be getting the ammo in too

A step in the right direction I suppose all they need to do now is control the sale of weapons generally. Seems making your own may offend those who sell them.

Unless I'm mistaken I think these guns are a one shot use. Gun companies cant make any cash on these so NRA will be all over this.

A .22 round can do a lot of damage; even low velocity ammunition (@1000ft/s) It will still break or penetrate bone, and easily go through the skull. Once inside the body it will tumble around and make a mess.

Lethal at short range (20-30ft).

I know it was pre-3D printing, and a work of fiction, but didn't the John Malkovich character in "In the Line of Fire" make a plastic gun so he smuggle it through security and try to assassinate the president? Obviously he's insane and Clint stops him, but a good bit of future predicting by the film makers.

I agree, more people die from 22's than any other calibre. I guess my point was that if you can get up close then you can ensure killing someone else with the bullet, but it may not have the destructive power to blow up the plastic gun unless it was a 22 mag

Trump tweeted saying these guns made no sense and he knew that because he had already consulted the NRA. So unless his gun selling mates can find a way to make money out of this it will continue to make no sense to allow them to Donald.
