Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

He'll definitely think about leaving after seeing the support of some in this thread. So quick to discard a player who was crucial to us last year and, by the looks of things, remains so this season. Whether it's sky bullshit or his agent pushing, it doesn't matter.

This is how Ward negotiates. The bosses at City know what's up, they wouldn't be briefing that we're relaxed and unconcerned if talks had broken down.

i don't think City will ever pay the prices PSG have paid for Mbappe n Neymar, what was it £220m & £166m respectively, and that's before wages, I hope we come to a compromise with Sterling asap .

And yet people are discussing "sacrificing" our 1st choice (on merit) winger for him. Shiny new toy syndrome. I know we're all eager to keep moving forward but come on, we ain't doing too badly are we?
Sacrificing, as you put it, is only being discussed on the premise of him reportedly demanding greater than his worth. He will be offered what the club value his worth and, if he doesn,t accept then he will be sacrificed. Nothing to do with shiny new toys as I see it.

Would Raheem be the first player to leave, if he did, that we would have ideally wanted to stay for a good number of years? Can't think of any others. And is it just me that doesn't rate Kane highly? Don't think he fits it with our possession game really...

Sterling will be a huge loss if he leaves. Strength and pace to burn, and his goals and assists last season speak for themselves.
But if he doesn’t sign he’ll have to go, must be worth 100m in today’s market.
I wonder what Pep could do with Martial? ....

I’ve said this about Tony Marshall before. There is a player in there just dying to be set free. Pep would work wonders with him.

How is it a win if we lose a very talented 23yr old who was crucial to our sucess last year and is only getting better? We might get 120m for him but he will be very difficult to replace.

We'll get nothing for him if he and the potential club wait for his contract to run down.
However I think when you buy a player who has done this previously then it's a risk you take that he'll do it with you.

It's like stealing a girl of another guy and then being surprised when she cheats on you.

A cheater is often only loyal until the next bigger and better thing comes along - ala Sterling.

Hopefully he will sign a new contract and we'll all be happy.
I'd love to keep him.

Fuck me that’s a bit deep :-)

Yep could he be the young striker to replace Sergio in a couple of years when he goes home? Could he become good enough to score 25+ goals a season?

where can he realistically go?

not liverpool and i wouldn't think utd, poss chelsea but then overseas to poss barca or real if they wanted him

Southern boy. He’s won everything domestically bar FA Cup, which he could win there. Possible takeover which would mean marquee signing.

Why not?

the only pull is where he is from, anything else we can match and better, if that's his reason and wants to go "home" then he certainly isn't worth the effort

for what its worth, i don't think he actually want to go anywhere, just money negotiations

Yeah my answer was only if he wants to leave. Not questioning what we can match. Thing is though if we don’t think he’s worth £300k a week but Arsenal do, he will be off if that’s his motivation.
