Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

He is doing brilliantly. I was chatting to a seething scouse fan recently, who was still raging at the mercenary in our midst. I find it bizarre, no matter how strong your allegiance, that you would hold a grudge for someone you signed yourself from a smaller club.

It was a positive sign to see him holding our badge after scoring such a top quality goal, (instead of that gesture the other week about "talking".)

He's doing the right things at the moment, which is good to see. Pep is such a good influence on his development.

you forget they will always think that coming to us is a step down and the only reason he would come to us is money

that's how delusional they are

It might just be down to having Pep, pushing him.

We will probably see the same from Sane, as the season goes on.

Mahrez is imo obviously nervous at the moment, but I expect we'll see him go up several levels over time, too.

But in Sterling's case, a move to someone like Madrid, must be more tempting than for most, due to the constant bullying he gets here.

The grass may be greener in Spain, but I can assure you that if things don't go well it can be much worse over there.

I guess January is the tpping point.

This, every day of the week

No the club will not pay him whatever he wants.
They will offer what they think he is worth, not a penny more.
Have you an issue with that. ?

Never have most sensible posters said pay him what he wants, that is only a figment of your imagination.

City will pay him what he wants because they have to.
Sterling is holding all of the cards in this process.
No it's 50/50 for me mate, he's not going abroad no matter what people say, and name me a better club to play for other than City, they will come to a compromise on City's terms I think.

Hahahaha! Not a chance!

Khaldoon isn’t going to let a top player get into the last year of his contract without a new one signed, sealed and delivered.

If Raheem thinks the grass is greener elsewhere, good luck to him. If he thinks he will get more game time, win more things, and get paid more than he does here, good luck to him. It’s a short career and he should strike while the iron is hot. However, to suggest City are going to either no end over for him, or sit idly by and watch a £50-80M player walk away for nowt, boggles the mind, even for Bluemoon!

Think city would of learnt from Milner he played us to the end and they wasn’t happy about that! So this will be sorted one way or another

I agree dont think he will go, certainly not after the way he celebrated his goal yesterday. Madrid and Barcelona are possibly the two names in the hat if he is considering a move sideways or arguably up a level. He would have a great time at either of those clubs.

all his confidence is whilst playing for City, so I just can't see him going, City will increase his wage but on there terms, when do you think a deadline will be for him to sign ?

City pay him the De Bruyne money or close to it or he goes on a free or at a reduced transfer fee. It's simple.

Given his age, quality, club and international experience along with commercial value, Madrid, will throw down that transfer fee/ personal terms quicker than you can say "Tattoo".

In his position taking into consideration again his age he has no peer in world football. City cant replace him, not because they haven't got the money but because as things stand that player is yet to come on the scene.

Madrid have just lost their Galactico talisman.
They are experiencing a slump in attendances and the galaticos that are left are aging.
All of those above mentioned conditions play nicely into Sterlings negotiation strategy.

If Mc Manaman, Beckham or even fuckin Thomas Gravesen, got game time back in the day at Madrid, what makes you think Sterling wont get minutes in that team.
Whether we like it or not Sterling is holding all the cards.

True, as I ve said they pay him or hes off which on the face of watching City yesterday will be a loss to us rather than him.
Sterling has been the game changer for a considerable amount of time.
They wont be able to replace him easily and not without considerable cost which ironically taking into consideration a transfer fee and personal terms may come close to or over the figures Sterlings is currently asking for with enhanced personal terms.

At first I wasn’t one to pay him the same as kdb I’m coming around to we should like you put he makes the difference in games more than most. Finding the equivalent age wise home grown as well will cost more in the long run than paying him the kdb wages.

I find it truly bizarre. He's a very nice chap who suddenly turned very angry when the subject of Sterling arose. He said he was shite for England. I said that his comments cannot be borne of a neutral perspective because it was very clear that he wasn't shite. Suddenly the cries of mercenary went up, he'll do just the same to you and he can't finish for toffee. It is like he left the promised land and then burnt it down.

The problem is that he did not do too bad at Liverpool with him as part of the trio of Suarez and Sturridge ripping it up a few years back.
I dont buy too much into Sterling improving massively since he has come to City, he was hot before he reached our doors.
He has improved under Pep at City, but he was not shit before he came and like I have said above the way he was performing at Liverpool suggests that his progression or performances is not not linked to one club.
If anything its the quality of players he has around him that have been a significant factor but he is likely to be surrounded by world beaters at Madrid, with a coach who appears to have the same footballing philosophy to Pep.
