Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

You really 47? My teenage son has similar traits to you, stands his ground, will argue all night without any facts or reasoning. Luckily it's down to hormones and he'll eventually grow out of it ;)

BTW hasn't Raz already scored 2 for 3 starts this year.....

Haha, bit too late for my hormones now I'm afraid,I'm staying away from the playing side of things, that is for the performances thread, but will admit fantastic goal on Saturday from him, long may it continue as someone at side of me said it will either get him his rise or put value on his transfer fee.

If you're staying away from the performance side of things then why are you responding to my post which was about his performances at Anfield? or indeed championing another post questioning his performances at Anfield?

Because I was brought up to be polite, and if asked a question to reply as it is courteous, however the daft question it may be

You tried to be clever and funny by having a slight dig at me,neither worked I'm afraid, keep trying though

I wonder if Razza does want to move and is holding out for RM to come and get him ??
I want him to stay, for all his missed chances, he does score some crucial goals. Keep him fit and happy, get him to sign again and we will win the league.

Hopefully all the badge thumping on Saturday is some indication Sterling wants to stay and he’ll sign soon. Just Sane to sort out then ....

No problem whatsoever.

He had 161 premier league games before the start of last season, when the best he'd ever managed was 11 goals. He was experienced then, and undeniably Sterling will continue to score. My argument he made massive improvements.

Mohamed Salah was 25 and had played 225 professional games before the start of last season, and he'd only managed more than 10 goals twice in 9 seasons. Then he hit 44 last year.

Lets not forget he scored more goals last season than in the previous 2 combined. He has already shown himself able to take massive strides in improving his goal scoring. Last year he really improved his finishing at the far post (the documentary mentioned Arteta coaching him to attack the ball, not just let it hit his foot) and now this season we seem to be seeing much more danger from around the edge of the box.

He still needs to work on 1v1's because he always wants to go around the keeper and lacks the confidence to finish past the keeper - but what we've seen so far makes me think he can definitely improve on those because he essentially just needs to do the same finish around the keeper he pulled off vs. Arsenal and Newcastle.

He will always miss chances because that's the kind of player he is, but Salah missed more big chances than anyone else in the league last year and scored 33 goals. Some of the misses he had were worse than anything Sterling pulls off but no one cares because he already had a huge number of goals that season. Sterling only needs to cut down on the misses a bit and he'll be hitting 30 goals a season, which is pretty much the gold standard for forwards.

Sterling will continue to score, of that I have no doubt. My point is that with his experience at the top level, he should not be missing the sitters he does. Quoting Salah is not proving anything wrt Sterling.

But I seem to remember you were saying citing his vast experience in the league as a reason he'd never improve 18 months ago...and then he did.

Sitters like the one Salah missed at the Etihad last year?

You have mistaken my post then. He has improved no doubt, but not to the extent he has eradicated missing sitters (last season obviously) and I personally dont think he will now

wtf has Salah got to do with Sterling?

Sitters like the one Salah missed at the Etihad last year?

I think it's really obvious what he has to do with it.

Salah misses sitters, and he's exactly the kind of goalscorer that Sterling can become, where no one gives a shit about his missed sitters because they're counting the 44 goals he did score. No one thinks Sterling will ever reach the point where he never misses an easy chance, but because of his movement and positioning, he can become the kind of player who scores so many that those missed chances are meaningless.

The two have very obvious parallels, except Sterling has had his first 20+ goal season at 22/23 and Salah was 25/26 years old.

Sterling missed 12 from 21 Big Chances from open play in the league last season
Jesus missed 13 from 23
Aguero missed 13 from 21

Salah missed 23 from 39
Kane missed 18 from 31

salah missed a sitter against Leicester last Saturday they all do its just sterling seems to get loads of shit for it

Its hard for the ordinary football fan to get their head around how a professional footballer can at times look so akward in front of goal. However I think raheem may have just turned the corner, he seems to be striking the ball more cleanly this season, putting his laces through it in a manner of speaking. I may yet be converted.
