Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Hahahaha!

You cherry picked his best goal of the season and want to give him a £15M/year contract?! Glad you don’t run my business!!

What’ll you pay for this....

Same season...

This delight and joy about one of our players missing makes you quite the cock and speaks volumes about why it is pointless to debate with you any further, your time in America must be well and truly rubbing off.

Unless you are, of course, told you have to justify why he doesn’t deserve it, which I’ve done.

Still no need in my opinion, I think a strong enough case can be presented against him getting parity without the need to slate him.

I’d find de Bruyne miss v Chelsea if I could be arsed
But I can’t

Awwww, petal, all bent out of shape because I showed you the other side of the coin you laid on the table.
Delight?
Joy?
Do you need a hug?
You’re holding on a bit too tight, Cougar?

Indeed and why would we want to ?

It is a strange world that somebody can take so much pleasure in one of our own missing and despite the fact he scored 20+ goals, how fucking dare he miss a couple of sitters.

The debate is whether he is a player who should be earning KDB type money in a new 5+ year contract after ONLY ONE good season, which occurred while playing in the best team ever seen in the Premier League (statistically)?

I’m not saying he should be dropped. I AM saying he is not the kind of player you put in the spine of your team and build around. He is not the most technically gifted player in the squad by a wide margin. Anyone who can’t see is, frankly, not worth debating any further.
I am saying he is in the top 4 players we have just now based on contribution. Not sure Pep does spines, or builds a team round any one player - all of our best players will be rotated regularly. He should be paid accordingly - probably not the top tier that Aguero is on but certainly one of our top 4 or 5. The English factor and his age are further justifications.

Fucking hell, there are some delicate flowers getting their panties in a wad today?

Raheem Sterling is a valued squad member. Last season, he scored more goals than ever before and even had som decent assists. Now, he appears to want to be made one of the top earners at the club. I don’t think he has earned that....YET.

Some posters said the club should pay him, because he is too valuable to lose. I disagreed. The club comes first. The “Save Raheem!” crowd reared it’s head started defending him from things he was never accused of, but I tried to stay on track, discussing my main point that he is not technically the finished article, whereas I feel others are.

Then, as if I didn’t see every goal he scored (and missed), I’m sent a video of his best goal of the season as some kind of justification of who knows what, so I post his biggest miss and the tissues and candles come out.

Get a grip! We are talking about whether a player makes £10M or £15M per season, so no need to get all protective and pissy.

If Pep did spines....Ederson, Stones, Fernandinho/KDB/Silva, Sergio

One swallow does not a summer make!

Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then!

Should I go on?

I am not saying he doesn’t have abilities, but I am saying he is technically lacking when stacked against the players his agent appears to think he should paid like. He is STILL a work in progress, IMHO.

You really seem to have a downer on the lad. He also won us double digit points with his goals, many of them late - 16 points wasn't it? It beats me why this guy is always singled out. yes he misses chances but so does every other good striker in the PL - someone posted the stats this evening that proved it. His movement is second to none and he works like a bloody trojan. He also stays level headed and concentrates on his football when faced with the worst media persecution I have ever seen a young footballer subject to. He might not fit your ideal as a footballer but mate, he is a young technically gifted English player that would walk into any of the top 6 premier teams + the European elite. If we don't pay him what is commesurate with his ability and standing with those that know what they are talking about...someone else surely will.

15m 5 year contract = 75m
New player of his equivalent fee for the the player plus 5 year contract will be far more than 75m plus we have a player in Sterling who 23 who knows the league is settled contributing to our wins. Whose to say sterling goes we buy someone and he be as good as sterling?!

So 15m a year doesn’t seem that much to me.

Haha! “Faraway fans”....funny stuff!

Maybe, just maybe, a few people aren’t blinded by their bias and see things you appear incapable of seeing.

Better technical talent? Bernardo or Sterling?
Better technical talent? Sané or Sterling?
Better technical talent? Jesus or Sterling?
Better technical talent? Mahrez or Sterling?

That’s O for 4 for Raheem against his teammates for a position in a team of the most technically talented young midfield/forwards in the squad.

0 for 4, Americanese?

You do realise they play on the same team. They bring different skills, have different faults ,weaknesses.

It must be a little confusing though, being a City, and not really wanting one of the players to suceed.
I think of him as an already elite player, with more improvement to come, I would never judge him against his team mates, but believe he complements them wonderfully.

Why Sterling should not negotiate hard for top money after being a core member of a team which broke almost every single PL record? If rags had done this they would have paid a young player like him more money than Sanchez.

All the more reason for him to get the best deal he can as he has to deal with all kinds of crap playing in his own country.
