Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

Sterling will be fine no matter what. But some people need to wake up, if he leaves, Where will City find another sterling? We can't even find another fern!

I doubt the club give the first shite about his world cup form (which in the games I saw looked perfectly fine to me, he just didn't score, he certainly helped others though).

I think you are correct that all this negotiation issue will be resolved by January (my thoughts a lot earlier though) but don't agree with the comment about the world cup. Raheem had a very good world cup if you watched the games properly and turned off the obvious shit house comments from the likes of Glenn Hoddle et al. However City don't need to discuss world cup performances. As long as he is performing for us, that's all they care about.

I don’t think they will discuss the World Cup performances but both sides certainly do care about them.

Had Sterling scored goals and won the Golden boot for example, he would be asking probably for even more. He even delayed contract talks until after the World Cup believing he would have an amazing one which would significantly improve his negotiating position.

So I wouldn’t say the World Cup performance doesn’t matter.

But I do agree that there is much more weight put on his club performances.

Plenty of wingers out there that I am sure would jump at the chance to come in and play under Pep on that right wing. His homegrown status is what makes it difficult.

name me one with sterlings stats and quality under a 100mill? One!

Sterling didnt have Sterlings stats pre Pep, same as Costa and Coman at Bayern . Pep makes players especially young wingers better.
Sterling was good before Pep, dont kid yourself.
Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge, remember when he was ripping it up with them two?
You dont pay 50 mill for potential this lad was good and City knew it.
Pep has made him more consistent, but playing with better players has been a pivotal factor too.
Again tell me another player like sterling who we are gonna pick up for under 100 mill if we let him go?. Ill make it easy choose any player in the world right now?

I’m sure it won’t be lost on our management, but if Sterling ran his contract down than he would go for free the same time as Silva (although I do hope we get 1 extra year out of him) and Aguero could. To have to replace 3 at the same time will be tough and expensive.

I wonder what City’s view is on the salary, is it simply we are against paying him that level or if he can have a season like last we pay him the money as a key first team player.

Is that the situation that we would need to see the consistency. If he scores 20+ in 2 seasons and we believe last season was not just a purple patch. A deal can be done where he is happy with the wages and we’re happy he’s worth it.

I know there has been an enormous amount of rumour and conjecture regarding Raheem's contract negotiations. But nowhere has Sterling stated he wants to leave the club (unlike what he did at Liverpool). This is purely a negotiation between two parties to negotiate a wage rise and extension to the length of time he stays at City. The same as Silva, Otamendi, Ferna, Jesus and the likes have already done so. The press and Media want to create a shitstorm around this due to who it is, not the content or context of the details. Why then therefore, do we need to be passing judgement on a perfectly normal activity in football administration.
City will do whats necessary to finalise the details for the good of the club and to the satisfaction of Raheem.
Let's drop the angst and furor and wait for the negotiations to come to their natural conclusion, whilst in parallel giving Sterling 100% support on the pitch.

Very naïve
Id say its a balanced view and far from 'naive'

That's the thing. I must have read tons of pages why it's felt sterling ain't that good, what he has to do to get an improved contract, why he would be worse off than the club if he left, yet not one person can identify a possible replacement under a 100 mill, with sterlings stats and quality. Funny that.

That’s because there isn’t one. If he left he would leave a gaping whole in our starting eleven that would be so so difficult to fill.

Bingo mate, bloody fucking bingo. Similiar to fern or Ederson. Hard to replace. Makes you wonder why others find it easy to wax lyrical finding fault with this lad, even going as far to suggest that city would be ok if we sold him, whilst offering absolutely no fucking alternative who would or could replace Sterling. Weird.
