Sterling’s contract - three year extension confirmed

name me one with sterlings stats and quality under a 100mill? One!
Dybala, Ascensio, Ousmane Dembele, (personally a bit "left field" but I like Brandt who replaced Sane in WC, although hasn't got the stats yet, he looked very talented)
I think his stats are a bit misleading, he gets a lot of tap ins. I reckon in our team even the likes of Martial would do well.

Bingo mate, bloody fucking bingo. Similiar to fern or Ederson. Hard to replace. Makes you wonder why others find it easy to wax lyrical finding fault with this lad, even going as far to suggest that city would be ok if we sold him, whilst offering absolutely no fucking alternative who would or could replace Sterling. Weird.
Zaha from Palace wouldn't be a bad shout, knows the Prem and would do well in our side

Your right. Good calls. The problem is though. Worse case scenario after buying him for 50 millm we sell him for 80 mill because talks break down and he threatens to run down his contract. The first three players individually would cost 150 mill plus and that's before wages that would perhaps equal or better what Sterling is asking for now. Not you. But when you look at the figures and how this could pan out City would be taking a big hit financially. Cheaper to give sterling the rise. As for Brandt and martial, I like them both but they don't give you the same stats or flexibility as sterling. Don't see martial dropping into the number 10 role if required. Brandt ain't no winger.

I do really like Brandt though, clever clever player.

Saha from Palace wouldn't be a bad shout, knows the Prem and would do well in our side
Yeh he is. Not sure he has the same explosive pace from a starting like sterling. Then as I said in previous post. We bought sterling for 50 mill. If he decides to run down that contract we ain't getting more than 70-80. Bit like us with Sanchez. To then having to buy Saha for 100 mill, throwing in his signing on fee, surely it makes sense to give sterling his rise.

He said under £100 million, Asensio possibly but if Real saw us coming they'd jack up the price particularly if they were aware we were trying to replace Sterling.

His stats aren't misleading at all, there's a very good reason he scores so many tap ins.

Martial may do well under Pep but how much would the rags charge if we went knocking? Not viable.

Hahahaha imagine ever believing Real fucking Madrid would want him.

Just take a step back and think about what you're saying.

Sterling is clearly the player in demand. You seem to think it's laughable that Madrid want him, why?
City, one of the richest most powerful clubs in the world are desperate to keep him.
Pep, the best manager in the World is desperate for him to stay and picks him every week.
Sterling's agent is obviously aware of significant interest from other elite clubs otherwise they'd have snapped out hands off at the first offer.

If we want him so much, why wouldn't a club like Madrid? We fish in the same pond.

It's clear you don't rate him, it's obvious that you simply don't have the understanding of what he brings to the team.

Fortunately we aren't run by people with such limited understanding and everyone at arguably the best ran club in the World wants him to stay.

Even you must be able to see there's obviously a reason why. Perhaps he's just better than you think? Pep sure seems to think so.

need this sorted either pay what he wants or get rid no player is bigger than the club and we have players chomping at the bit to take his place.i like sterling but he's replaceable.

Oh no, now you’ve done it! All the Sterling sycophants will be on you like shit in a blanket!

There is still a very long way to go before anything untoward might happen. But, if he hasn’t signed by the end of the season, and goes on his hold without a new contract, then all bets are off, as Txiki and Khaldoon are not going to let him walk away for nothing and be a disruptive force in his rundown season.

I hope they get it done, because I think Pep can round him out and possibly even help his technical development.

I’m sure it won’t be lost on our management, but if Sterling ran his contract down than he would go for free the same time as Silva (although I do hope we get 1 extra year out of him) and Aguero could. To have to replace 3 at the same time will be tough and expensive.

I wonder what City’s view is on the salary, is it simply we are against paying him that level or if he can have a season like last we pay him the money as a key first team player.

Is that the situation that we would need to see the consistency. If he scores 20+ in 2 seasons and we believe last season was not just a purple patch. A deal can be done where he is happy with the wages and we’re happy he’s worth it.

Not that I totally disagree, but I think we already have replacements for Silva & Aguero. Silva & Jesus. I think it will be Foden involved and a signing similar to Jesus, like we tried with the Portuguese kid in the summer.

And out & out right winger scoring and assisting like Sterling will cost a lot.

There's no sycophants, just those that can recognise that his ability to score as many tap ins as he does is a skill/quality in itself and it shouldn't in any way be used to undervalue him as a player.

Maybe Aguero's situation may effect a potential Sterling replacement, Dybala maybe more expensive than Sterling but a better replacement striker? Asensio is superb, but I am not sure Real would let him go? (In a fantasy world a swap for Sterling).
I think Martial can leave the rags for free at the same time as Sterling would leave us on a free, if worst case happens, (assuming Martial doesn't re-sign?)

I like sterling, he has done a great job for us. But he is replaceable and I am not blinkered in thinking we need to pay him what he wants.

However, even if he did leave I would wish him all the best

If he is all about money, and City won't be held to ransom, then he'll be flirted. If he wants to improve on his skills as a footballer, and win trophies, then he would be silly to leave Pep and his coaching skills.
His choice really .... will see what he wants more sooner or later.

Bernardo is looking good, I am not sure about Jesus being up to replacing Aguero? That might have been the original plan, but he seems too inconvenient at the moment.

Take off your blue tinted specs.

Real Madrid eat at the top table. What position are the6 buying for? Who are the top 3 players in that position in the world? They want one of them.

How much do you think Real would want to pay for Sterling? They don’t care that he is English, so knock off at least the £20m “Homegrown” premium English clubs pay for what little talent is left in this country. Then he is in the process of running down his contract if he is going to leave. So, next summer, do they bid £100M? Not a chance! £40M tops...or they simply make it known to the player that they want him, will pay him mega bucks to sign and show him the €5M villa they have picked out for him in Madrid, and Bob’s Your Uncle....he does a Milner!

Like everyone else, I have no idea what he is looking for, but I know Txiki and Khaldoon are not going to be bent over BY ANY PLAYER! They know who the key components of the squad are going forward. They also know that there is not a hole in the team, apart from GK, that cannot be easily plugged by another player. There is Bernardo and Mahrez both looking to play in that same position, with a Mahrez favoring the wing and Bernardo liking to drift infield, not to mention Diaz who can play the left footed right winger role.

The game is big business and in our best year ever we made £10M. Khaldoon, Ferran and Txiki know what they want, but most importantly, they are disciplined enough to walk away from deals they are unwilling to pay, because they know this is not the City of yesterday, but the City of tomorrow.

I hope they can do the deal at the right price, with the right incentives, but if not I will trust their judgment and expect Sterling to be sold next summer. 10 years ago we would have killed to keep a 20 goal player. This isn’t 10 years ago!

And, as other players’ contracts come up, expect the exact same sentiments from me, unless they are one of the Lynch pins of the team going forward, which explains why they have been taking care of contracts thick and fast until they came up against this roadblock.

'Take my blue specs off'?

You agree that we want to keep him and then suggest how Real Madrid will go about getting him.

We want him, Real want him, sounds like everyone has these 'blue specs'...
